Looks like we'll have to wait a bit more in order to play one of the most anticipated PS3 games.
Team ICO is making slow progress in their next game, says Sony Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida.
In a recent interview with 1UP at the DICE conference, Sony Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida said that Team ICO latest game, The Last Guardian is progressing slowly. We all know the studio was responsible for the critically acclaimed PlayStation 2 games ICO and Shadow of the Colossus, being The Last Guardian the third in the series.
A few weeks ago, director Fumito Ueda left the company and everyone thought the game was going to be cancelled. However, he now works on the game 'on a contract basis', and seems there has been some scrapping and rebuilding on the game's development, so that's why its taking so long.
Surely, this is one of the most anticipated games for the PlayStation 3, but seems we will have to wait a bit more to play it. It was scheduled for a 2012 release, but that could change.1UP: Does he still work in the office?
SY: Absolutely. Absolutely. He comes in every day, and he's probably one of the people who works the longest hours. The project has been making progress, but slow progress. So that's tough, but we haven't changed any focus. It's still a really important project and a vision we want to see realized, and Fumito's vision is really causing a very difficult challenge for the developers, so there's some scrapping and rebuilding -- iteration in the process. That's why [it's taking so long].

remember ico was destined for psx before it too went back to the drawing board and ended up on ps2, makes sense that if its getting hard to do it on ps3 they will use the increased power of the ps4
