Exclamation The Last Guardian development is progressing 'slowly'

Looks like we'll have to wait a bit more in order to play one of the most anticipated PS3 games.

Team ICO is making slow progress in their next game, says Sony Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida.

In a recent interview with 1UP at the DICE conference, Sony Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida said that Team ICO latest game, The Last Guardian is progressing slowly. We all know the studio was responsible for the critically acclaimed PlayStation 2 games ICO and Shadow of the Colossus, being The Last Guardian the third in the series.

A few weeks ago, director Fumito Ueda left the company and everyone thought the game was going to be cancelled. However, he now works on the game 'on a contract basis', and seems there has been some scrapping and rebuilding on the game's development, so that's why its taking so long.

1UP: Does he still work in the office?

SY: Absolutely. Absolutely. He comes in every day, and he's probably one of the people who works the longest hours. The project has been making progress, but slow progress. So that's tough, but we haven't changed any focus. It's still a really important project and a vision we want to see realized, and Fumito's vision is really causing a very difficult challenge for the developers, so there's some scrapping and rebuilding -- iteration in the process. That's why [it's taking so long].
Surely, this is one of the most anticipated games for the PlayStation 3, but seems we will have to wait a bit more to play it. It was scheduled for a 2012 release, but that could change.

likely you'll need to buy a new console to play it on remember ico was destined for psx before it too went back to the drawing board and ended up on ps2, makes sense that if its getting hard to do it on ps3 they will use the increased power of the ps4

I thought this game had already been released and I had forgotten about it, seems not then.

Aye, this will either be a last big splash for the PS3 like God of War 2 was for the PS2 or it will most likley be a PS4 game, as if the PS4 isn't out by next year Sony are going to be struggling to play catch up, and a game like this as a PS4 launch tittle would be a boon.
    My gaming systems -
    Consoles - Wii, Xbox 360 Elite, Xbox 360 Jtag Jasper 2TB 3.5" HDD, PS3 60GB UK launch version, PS3 hacked with 500GB 3.5" HDD (2TB wouldn't work ).

    PC - i7 3930K @4.6GHZ, Asus Rampage IV Extreme, 2xRadeon 7970, 32GB DDR3, 4TB Raid HDD (4X Samsung Spinpoint F3, SSD boot drive OCZ Vertex 3 120GB )

These are gaming systems I am biased towards (may as well throw in everything from last gen and before as if the PC can emulate it I am likley to have it)
