They got all the money they needed in a few hours
CyanogenMod has reached its goal really fast.
CyanogenMod is a not-for-profit business that have released alot of great custom builds for the devices running the Android OS, and this morning they put up a blog post asking for donations from the community, as they need the money to purchase new more powerful servers to keep releasing new and better builds:
The CyanogenMod community quickly responded to this call, and the CyanogenMod team earned the money they needed really fast, and even a bit more. Now they have the money to buy new servers, they originally wanted to buy “Xeon-class boxes with lots of RAM” and they will now be able t order them next week, with thanks to all the people whom decided to support this great wonderful developer team:CyanogenMod is not a for-profit business. We are just a bunch of geeks, trying to make our phones more awesome. The donations we get currently cover our operating costs and occasionally go towards developer devices. This time, I need to ask for help from the community for something a bit larger. We need to purchase these servers in order to bring the build infrastructure back to full capacity.
NEWS SOURCE: In a few short hours Cyanogenmod gets enough donations for new servers from its community (via) 9to5 GoogleI am absolutely amazed at the support we have just been shown. We’ve reached our goal, and maybe a bit more. We will be ordering the servers next week (Xeon-class boxes with lots of RAM), and should have the builds going again soon!
Thank you again for the support!
