They are using the official Xbox 360 translation.
Namco refused to bring the PS3 version of Tales of Vesperia to NA and Europe... looks like fans are applying the XBOX 360 translation to it and will release the 'patch' very soon.
Tales of Vesperia was released back in 2008 on the XBOX 360. After that, Namco decided to make an enhanced port for PS3, with additional content, like full voice acting.
However, that one never left Japan and now -for those who don't know- fans of the series will release an English Patch this year... and they are using the extracted -and official- XBOX 360 translation.
As some of their other projects, like the Fatal Frame 4 english patch for Wii, you will need an original copy of the game, and it will only work on jailbroken PS3s with a Firmware 3.55 or lower. However, they are releasing a text document of the translation too, so everyone can enjoy it in english.Released in Japan back in 2009, Vesperia's PS3 version sports massive improvements over the original—including both a staggering amount of additional spoken dialogue and not one but two new playable characters.
According to head translator DS55, he, head programmer Pikachu025, and the rest of their team have been working on the project for a little over a year now. For the project, they are using the official Xbox 360 translation where available (which was conveniently hidden away in the PS3 version's code) and their own translations for the new content. As of posting, the script has been fully translated and is being checked for accuracy.
Expect a release "sometime this year."
