Exclamation Apple could be making a 'physical game controller' for iOS devices, according to report

Could this 'project' ever see the light of day?

According to a 'review' by website AnandTech, Apple is 'designing' a physical game controller for iOS devices...

Seems AnandTech knows something we don't. In their New iPad review, they said Apple is making a physical game controller for iOS devices...

That's according to AnandTech, which claims in its new iPad review to have been informed of "an internal Apple project to bring a physical controller to market".
However, they add the following: "whether or not it will ever see the light of day remains to be seen."

With Google already supporting wired and wireless controllers for its Android OS, Apple could already be planning to implement something similar...

Not only would a similar move by Apple make existing 3D games like Grand Theft Auto 3 more playable on iOS devices, but with the technical capabilities of iOS platforms rapidly approaching those of home consoles we can expect to see a new generation of more advanced games on Apple products in the coming years.

Epic Games told us in February that it's "constantly pushing" platform holders to make their next-generation consoles as advanced as possible "because if they don't, Apple will go right past them".
This could be pretty big if true!

It would be about time, for many games touch screen just sucks. For some games touch screen is great but for games like FIFA this "virtual d-pad" sucks.

I'd rather see a slide out Xperia Play type control than something that bloas out the stuff even further. Even a controll pad you can use wireless is a dire option especially on the phones/touch, built in controlls or just stick with the lame touchscreen controlls for 99% of the games that use it. I was never one for playing phone games beyond 5 or 10 minutes of the likes of tetris, or golf on my W960 as phone controlls even touch screen suck on most games, but havign a legit controller built into the phone on the Xperia Play has actually got me playing a lot more, ok maybe not overly more but now I want to finnish the level/track/course I am on instead of just switching off reguardless when I have anything better to do.
    My gaming systems -
    Consoles - Wii, Xbox 360 Elite, Xbox 360 Jtag Jasper 2TB 3.5" HDD, PS3 60GB UK launch version, PS3 hacked with 500GB 3.5" HDD (2TB wouldn't work ).

    PC - i7 3930K @4.6GHZ, Asus Rampage IV Extreme, 2xRadeon 7970, 32GB DDR3, 4TB Raid HDD (4X Samsung Spinpoint F3, SSD boot drive OCZ Vertex 3 120GB )

These are gaming systems I am biased towards (may as well throw in everything from last gen and before as if the PC can emulate it I am likley to have it)
