Exclamation The IKEA's 'UPPLEVA' is a TV, media player, furniture, Blu-ray player and more

    An 'all-in-one solution'

IKEA's new line of electronics include the 'UPPLEVA', which is an all-in-one solution that integrates a TV, its furniture, a Blu-Ray player, speakers, storage and more!

The UPPLEVA is an all-in-one solution by IKEA, which integrates a TV, speakers built into its base, a wireless subwoofer, integrated cable storage and a Blu-ray player, all controlled with one remote.

For the young urbanite looking to fill an apartment with as little fuss as possible, it might be a life saver. For the uninitiated, selecting and buying a TV is a task fraught with risk, and even tech-savvy people find setting up the various players and services a chore. The UPPLEVA is a bit like an iMac, in that its focus is strictly on ease of setup and access. You can customize it if you want, but in the end you take home one box and that's it.

The UPPLEVA Remote looks like the Wii one.

This all-in-one device will be available this June in some European countries, for around 6,500 Swedish crowns, which is $960 USD.

It will debut at a few IKEA flagship stores, so if you're in Stockholm, Milan, Paris, Gdansk or Berlin this June, you can sneak a peek. It will spread to other countries later in 2012 and possibly the U.S. in 2013.
Quite interesting concept. Check out the announcement trailer below for more info!

do we know who is making the screen / br player since that would be a big factor as well as how much the "wireless ready" dongle will cost (since those are often way overpriced).

we now know the Xbox One's game licensing policy was written from the ground up for companies. It's aggressively anti-consumer and anti-middle class, and it outright ignores underprivileged gamers. It's gross, despicable, greedy, pathetic, cowardly and out of touch with a growing global resentment for corporations. - Polygon 7th June 2013
