The most popular Media Center app for the Microsoft's Xbox has been updated. Get it now!

XBMC Media Center for Xbox is a free media player software and entertainment system application framework for that has been with us for several years. Now, a new stable version (3.1) has been launched and you can update your "old boxes".

Here is the official announcement:

It’s been close to a year since the last stable release. The truth is, the nightly builds have probably been more stable than the last release as some useful fixes went in soon after. Due to lack of free time, and developers, it’s taken a while to get around to doing another point release but finally – here it is – XBMC4XBOX 3.1

There has been a lot of improvements over the last year – changes since 3.0.1 include:

-FFMPEG Updates
-DVDPlayer Updates/Fixes (Such as improved DVD Seeking and Slingbox support)
-PAPlayer Updates
-Updates to libcurl/polarssl/librtmp
-Scraper fixes
-Lots of other misc bugfixes and improvements.

Thanks to all the XBMC developers on over at http://www.xbmc.org as many of the changes are backports from their code base. Also a big thanks and farewell to Arnova, who has been supporting the XBOX over the years but no longer has any need for his XBOX1. He will continue to develop XBMC for Linux though.

Not really, still works fine with 720p stuff if you have the component output, which even tho it's an NTSC only output, if you can run XBMC then you can run the video mode switch software and so use a component out put.

Personally even in this day of HD and 3D, 99% of the stuff I get is still SD even when there is a HD option, especially on TV programmes, most people I know are the same as well unless the HD version costs the same tho when downloading SD is the main choice as a slightly sharper picture doesn't make up for at least 5x the size.
