That's it, the original iPhone would have come to us with a physical keyboard and a click wheel if the idea wasn't discarded before. Tony Fadell, from Apple revealed this and more "secrets" about the original iPhone inception.

According to The Verge:

Tony Fadell, former Apple executive and CEO of Nest, stopped by On The Verge this past Friday and shared some inside details around the iPhone's creation, including the fact that Apple seriously considered building an iPhone with a hardware keyboard.
