EA to shut down Rock Band iOS game after May 31th

The game will no longer be playable even if you purchased it



EA has announced that you can't play Rock Band for iOS anymore after May 31st, offline play included.

Another reason for EA to maintain the recently acquired title of "Gamer's most hated and worst videogame company ever".

It seems that the Rock Band app for iOS devices will be no longer playable after May 31th.

This is not only affecting multiplayer options like in a server closedown but affecting offline play too.

The customers who have purchased the App (Which is still for sale at the App Store) will be infuriated for sure.

I smell a class action lawsuit coming along.... this is just unacceptable and a PURE scam.

You buy something and then you can't use it when the company decides? If this happened in any other non-digital industry, this would be considered theft.

This is going to happen more and more with the 'digital download' age, the biggest fear of DRM is slowly coming true, and sadly most iSheep will accept it!

i remember saying that and the same thing happening when sony did exactly the same thing with other os, at least ea has their "worthless" eula that you agree to which allows them to kill downloaded content with 30 days notice, sony dint even have that but still largely got away with it.

the only way to stop all this criminal crap of dlc, download games and online passes is for people to wake up and stop buying any **** that uses them, if no one buys this crap then the greedy bastards who keep using them will go bust or change.

BTW guys, looks like EA backtracked, they claimed an "error"

"Rock Band for iOS will remain live - the in-app message users received yesterday was sent in error," the company said in a statement sent to Cnet.
"We apologize for the confusion this caused. We're working to clarify the issue that caused the error and will share additional information as soon as possible."

i agree, you cant keep screwing people out of more and more and give them less and less before something finally goes too far and customers say "enough" at which point the whole market will collapse, strangely as a gamer i look forward to this, i already have a pc that plays games and does the patch / fix / download crap things, i dont want heavily drm'ed mini pc's with sony, ms or nintendo badges on them hooked up to my tv, i want games consoles and if a complete crash and reboot is what is required then so be it.
