Rovio reported that their 'Angry Birds' franchise has been downloaded 1 billion times with $106.3M in revenue!

Finnish video game developer Rovio, has announced in its latest financial report that the Angry Birds franchise has been downloaded 1 billion times, and has generated revenues of $106.3 million with pre-tax profits of $67.6 million, which is 64% of its total revenue.

According to CEO Mikael Hed, the firm is still considering whether it will file for IPO, and said the firm’s latest title, Angry Birds Space, has been “a major success.”

“We have a few games coming up including a new game outside of the Angry Birds family,” he told AllThingsD. “Our animation studio is working on Angry Birds animation series which will come out later this year.

“The business for 2012 looks very good.”
Not surprising, as the game has been the [b]top paid iPhone app in various countries, as Canada:

Also, the company (which was started by three students) is now worth $8.8 billion, nearly as much as phonemaker Nokia! They managed to do this in just over 2 years, as the company will be 3 years old on Dec. 11, 2012.

Rovio also said yesterday that a Windows Phone version of Angry Birds Space isn’t far off.
