'Son(s) of Touchpad'

HP has announced that it will start selling tablets again but this time they will be based on Windows 8.

HP just announced that they will start selling tablets again but, this time, they will be based on Windows 8, rather than its own -now defunct- WebOS-based TouchPad.

Yes, the manufacturer ended sales of the TouchPad last year because of abysmal sales.

The announcement was made in Shanghai by the company's CEO, Meg Whitman, at the Global Influencer Summit 2012 where Todd Bradley, the company's EVP for printing and personal systems, hinted that Windows 8 tablets will come with cloud-based services to allow users to store and share content across devices.

It is likely that these tablets will be based on x86 processors (definitely Intel, potentially AMD). HP has not confirmed whether it will release tablets based on ARM technology - like the TouchPad - and running Windows RT.
Windows 8 will release in the fourth quarter of the year, so most likely HP will launch these just in time for the Holiday season.
