Exclamation Survey company reveals $300 Wii U price point?

    Justifies earlier reports about price...

Online Survey company 'Global Test Market' showed users Wii U concept art and asked whether they would purchase the system if it retailed for $300...

Apparently, a survey company called Global Test Market "leaked" some Wii U concept art and asked users whether they would purchase the system if it retailed for $300.

Now, this is still a rumor, but it looks like this company does lots of surveys for game publishers, and also, they were the first ones who "revealed" the Goldeneye Wii remake.

The Wii U concept art itself doesn’t reveal much that we haven’t already seen — it basically shows the key features of the console that we have seen in videos released by Nintendo. However, a $300 price now seems more and more likely for the new system. Wii U Daily was the first to report back in February that the Wii U would retail at $299. Both from a market standpoint and based on the Wii U system specs, $299 is looking like the ideal price for the console. Nintendo has said that the final price and launch lineup will be revealed some time after E3.
Yes, this one justifies earlier reports about a possible $300 or more price point.

As you may know, Nintendo won't reveal the Wii U price at this year E3. So we will have to wait a bit more to see if these rumors are true.

If true, are you willing to spend that much on the console?

the figure is right for the us market.

we now know the Xbox One's game licensing policy was written from the ground up for companies. It's aggressively anti-consumer and anti-middle class, and it outright ignores underprivileged gamers. It's gross, despicable, greedy, pathetic, cowardly and out of touch with a growing global resentment for corporations. - Polygon 7th June 2013

200, or 249 at most. This is Nintendo we're talking about here. After all the money they made on wii, all the shovelware we had to endure, I think it's time they give us a break. Not only that, the system is very underpowered.

$300 in the US, that means us Brits will see it at £300.... Was willing to pay upto £250, but £300 will be alittle bit too much.

Its the usual launch price, so its not a surprice. PS3 and 360 was even more expensive at launch.. Even PS2.
Wanna know why so many buggy games never gets fixed on Xbox 360 and Windows Phone?

Microsoft charges 40.000$ each time a Indie dev submits a patch.

Microsoft...They are as Indie friendly as my Ass.

Wii U in short: Free online, frequently Free "On Disk DLC" and no online passes.

I was going to say.. Its 50 bucks higher than the usual nintendo launch price.. But it certainly isnt sooooooo rediculous.

Considering people paid what they did for a ps3 at launch. (including myself.. lol)

Considering the tablet controller and hopefully its got SOME power in it.. 300 doesnt seem too bad.

We also dont know if there is a pack in game, included wii motion + controllers, nunchucks, etc.

    So lets see i guess.

    1) agreed

    2) try living in the uk we paid $850 at launch for a part ps2 compatible 60gb ps3.

    3) agreed

    4) yes, no, no, no.

Look at the price of a Samsung Galaxy 3 or some Android/ISheep Tablet... Each is twice the price of a Wii-U.
Compared to this, a gaming console is quite cheap.

Looking at the price of SNES, Gamecube, Wii etc.. Its not far from the same price point..

I think PS4 and Xbox 720 will have so much new crap in it that i wont buy any of them. I think they will be consoles that punishes the consumers.

As for Wii-U, it will probably be more consumer friendly and probably not require internet.

number 2?? you say try living in uk but put a $ instead of £ to which my ps3 dint cost me £533.72, mine was arround £500 with 2 games i think (not sure if it was one game or two at launch).

but $300 for a wii u does sound a little too much when nintendo have still to comment if what devs are saying (which this site wont accept the post i submitted classing as rumored nintendo havent commented, yet love posting rumored MS/PS3 news thats negative) that its a beefed up this gen system.

before i even consider even buying another nintendo console i want nintendo to prove that its going to focus on its games more, not mario/zelda cr@p all the time and the shovel ware sh1te you can expect based on the ifad controller, and the remaining games not to be ported last gen games and the remaining games to be lacking perfect example nintendo admitted to aparently be holding back on great 3DS games to which we still do not see.

but hey ho, the same happened on the GC, the same on the Wii, the same on the 3DS its bloody likely going to be the same again, all nintendo do is brag it sure does sell the most units, but it never brags that any of its games break sales records in days/weeks.

now this is why you buy a console, for its games, not its ifad controllers. the fact that 360/ps3 games sell large ammounts like this, clearly shows that sony/ms have hit the right gaming audience, and not only aiming for kids.

when the ps3 launched in the uk it cost £425 for the 60gb, that was $850 (us) AT THAT TIME, obviously since the worldwide market crash its different now but that wasnt what we were talking about.

oh and your shovelware shite will be mostly on whichever console wins the race to be #1 (as always) although with luck this time around on the wii u it will be download games rather than full retail shovelware just like on the psn / xbla / xbl indie.

ha ha so full of it (i removed two letters before it) when you say race to be #1 is this #1 with better games or #1 to sell the most consoles, if its to sell number one consoles id agree coz this is the case with nintendo.

so you assume that nintendo and its devs will only release the shovelware games as download games, what aload of turd, i bet both my testicles that it will also be littered as retail games.

your comment about psn/xbla ect hmm sure theres some shovel ware indie games, but it also has normal games that are available either retail or download.

but you forget nintendo also do the same, VC games such as sonic and other retro games, so your kinda shooting yourself in the foot there pal.

wow, you really cant just accept facts can you?

how can any console be #1 other than by selling the most so of course its nintendo this gen (and sony the previous 2)

nintendo and its devs dont release any shovelware thats the 3rd parties that do that.

whilst there is far more shovelware on the wii that doesnt mean it doesnt exist on other format, it always has, but with smaller usebases they get less of it but the simple fact is that digital distribution has made it easier to push shovelware on psn and live whera on wii it pretty much had to be on retail discs since hardly anyone bought wiiware titles.

oh and you do know that vc stands for virtual console and as such includes only re-releases of retro games not shovelware.

you only beleive your facts, sure a console can sell more, but it can have turd games, hows that make it number 1, also previous 2, the GC was a flop in comparrison to the PS2, the GC was the start of nintendo releasing revamped last gen systems, because FACT nintendo made such a loss with the cube that they had to sell one of its biggest game devs to MS.

i admit other systems do have shovel ware, this is the FACT your missing because other than the shovelware what else do nintendo have??

exactly my point, zelda/mario ect wheres the great games this gen had that nintendo didnt, wheres the great games the last gen had nintendo didnt, these are the facts.

just because nintendo can release a cheap system add a marketing fad controller, doesnt mean it has the #1 spot as a console the FACTS your fanboy eyes wont accept and read.

i can bet you 100% when the wii u launches its going to be a repeat, shovelware games, mario/zelda recycleware, cheap ass games soley based on its iFAD controller, ohh and last gen game ports.

on the other hand the next sony/ms systems will yet again push gaming to a whole new level (compare this gen games with last gen) while nintendo again lack behind.
