Exclamation iOS surpasses Android in enterprise usage

Trends in the enterprise shifted dramatically in the first quarter of 2012

A recent study reveals that iOS is the most used mobile OS in enterprises.

Android is the most widespread mobile OS among regular users nowadays, mainly due to the high number of devices that are using it but a recent study has concluded that Apple iOS is the mobile OS most used in the entreprise ambit with more than 50%, relegating Android and Blackberry devices to the second and third place respectively.

    According to PC World:

Zscaler ThreatlabZ, the research arm of SaaS security provider Zscaler, recently released data based on more than 200 billion first quarter transactions in its cloud, which serves global companies of all sizes. A transaction, as defined by Zscaler ThreatlabZ senior security researcher Mike Geide, occurs every time a file is accessed from a web server.

The data shows transactions originating from iOS devices increased steadily over the quarter, ending March with slightly more than 50% of mobile activity. Transactions from Android devices, meanwhile, dropped to 37% by the end of March. As recently as December 2011, Android and iOS devices were about equal at 47% of transactions among Zscaler's enterprise customers, Geide says, after Android had held the lead for most of 2011.

BlackBerry devices observed in Zscaler's study dropped from about 18% of January transactions to about 15% by the end of March.
We guess that the next year, Windows Phone will be also there eating a part of this "cake".

I'm surprised Android was ever getting more usage. In my experience icrap is just easier for the telecom doofuses of the world to troubleshoot and most tools seem to be aimed more towards ios than android. I know where I work at, the tech support guys won't even help android users set up their phones, if you've got an iphone they'll send you a masseuse and some hot cocoa while you wait.

My question is, what ever is happening to blackberry? I know they were supposedly not going to focus on average users anymore and aim for the... well enterprise users... not working out that well for them.

they only just started to roll out their new systems to developers so it'll be a while before that new strategy comes into force.
