Exclamation Siri says Nokia Lumia 900 is the 'best smartphone ever', Apple quickly patches it

Is now indeed the iPhone 4S...

Looks like Siri responded to 'What is the best smartphone ever?' questions saying that it was the Nokia Lumia 900. Well, Apple acted quickly and changed the response.

Now this one is pretty funny.

Apparently, if you asked Siri a few days ago from your iPhone 4S, what the ‘best smartphone ever’ is, your humble virtual assistant recommended you to buy Nokia’s Lumia 900!

But really, an iPhone 4S-only service prompting you to check out a rival device when you ask it what the best handset is?

Siri’s amusing recommendation is drawing comments from hosts of Nokia and Microsoft fans worldwide (yes, there are still many of them), which in itself is rather amusing. It’s kinda like watching people cheer because the magical mirror told the queen that Snow White is actually the fairest of them all.

Well, Apple acted quickly and changed the response. Now the answer is indeed the iPhone 4S, with responses like "the one you're holding" and "you're kidding, right?"

The issue was due to Siri's heavy reliance on Wolfram Alpha (its searches represent 25 percent of all Wolfram queries), which chose the Lumia 900 as the best smartphone due to a catalog of four different five-star reviews. If you search Wolfram Alpha independent of Siri you'll still be told that Nokia's offering is the best, so Apple appears to have simply told its beta assistant to ignore the "knowledge engine" for this particular query.
Apple to Siri: Bad Siri... Don't you dare to do that again!

more proof that apple are just so scared of their sheep ever finding out just what a piece of outdated crap they are holding that they have to change search results to block out the competition.

for what its worth if you look at the top smartphones on amazon the lumia 900 is only one of many windows phone based smartphones in the top 20 phones, soundly beating any other platform.

we now know the Xbox One's game licensing policy was written from the ground up for companies. It's aggressively anti-consumer and anti-middle class, and it outright ignores underprivileged gamers. It's gross, despicable, greedy, pathetic, cowardly and out of touch with a growing global resentment for corporations. - Polygon 7th June 2013

One thing I wish to happen 'hacking' wise this year, would be for a group like anonymous to get into "Siri" and modify the heck of its replies, forcing Apple to shutdown the service, now that would be a fun 'hack' to see happen.

keep it simple, same response to every question. "you bought an iphone, kill yourself" i mean if siri tells them to do it i'm sure some of the i-sheep would, which could only improve the gene pool (and maybe close a few starbucks)
