Exclamation Xbox 360 could be banned in the US

    For Motorola's patent infrigement

ITC judge recommends Microsoft Xbox import ban in US for infringing on Motorola patents

Some bad news is coming out today from the States.

It appears that a judge has recommended banning the Xbox 360 in the country due to a patent infringement.

Specifically, the Redmond's console is violating several video compression and communication with the controller patents which Motorola owns.

Here is an extract of the sentence:

It is recommended that the Commission enter a limited exclusion order against infringing Microsoft products. It is further recommended that the Commission issue a cease and desist order. Additionally, it is recommended that Microsoft be required to post a bond for importation of accused products during the Presidential review period,” stated Administrative Law Judge David P. Shaw in the public recommendation.
This time it is not Microsoft who is holding the Banhammer, uh?

But don't worry, this is one of those issues that resolves easily dropping some cash, and the big M has plenty of it >.

When will the american justice system stop lending itself to these little spectacles?

A judge needs to sit down both Moto and MS and make them settle their differences, and come to some agreement. I'd be insulted if I was made part of this back and forward BS.

I think it was just a tit for tat to get them to settle and go away. Motorola just had their Android handhelds banned in the US, via Microsoft.

Now they'll just sign papers negating both and go on their merry way. Patents and Copyrights have to be protected, if you don't make the attempt to do so, they mean nothing and become null and void. This is nothing more than the same old song and dance...

Well 98% of the time I think patents are just there to hinder progress, so maybe that's what makes this all so stupid, redundant and not necessary in my eyes.

That said, I insist that a ban on moto's crappy prison cells (pun intended) is doing the US a great favor.

I can't even imagine that happening! That would be unreal.

where German courts were the first to "ban" it?

we now know the Xbox One's game licensing policy was written from the ground up for companies. It's aggressively anti-consumer and anti-middle class, and it outright ignores underprivileged gamers. It's gross, despicable, greedy, pathetic, cowardly and out of touch with a growing global resentment for corporations. - Polygon 7th June 2013
