Doom 3 BFG Edition announced for Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and Pc

A re-mastered version with Doom and Doom 2 included



id Software is proud to announce Doom 3 BFG Edition for Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and Pc.

id Software has just announced Doom 3 BFG Edition, a re-mastered and expanded version of the amazing Doom 3. The game will be released for Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and Pc.

Doom 3 BFG Edition will include Doom and Doom 2, and The Lost Mission, a never-before-seen single player story for Doom 3 with seven new levels. The game will come with re-mastered graphics, 3D support, 5.1 surround sound and improved rendering and lightning. Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 versions of the game will include, obviously, Achievements and Trophies.

The new Doom 3 will also feature a new checkpoint save system for "smoother progression" through the game and an armour-mounted flashlight, so the players can kill enemies and illuminate dark corners at the same time.

According to John Carmack from id Software:

"Doom 3 was enthusiastically embraced by gamers worldwide at its release. Today, the full experience has been enhanced and extended to be better than ever, and is delivered across all the platforms with a silky smooth frame rate and highly responsive controls."

"New support for 3D TVs, monitors, and head mounted displays also allows players to experience the game with more depth than ever before. We think shooter fans everywhere will love it."

remastered???? it dont look remastered to me, what if you call higher detail textures, the models still look the same that have symetrical textures (the left texture is the same as the right) and the armour detail ext is flat and bump mapped.

if it looked like GOW3 then yea id class it as remastered, this just looks like a HD port.

i already have doom 3 collectors edition and the resurrection of evil expansion pack for the xbox (which plays perfectly on the 360) so i just cant see a reason to buy this (unless its dlc/online pass free and has a special edition)

I still have the original one for the PC, this if it was priced decently... I might pick up. If I see it around for 20 bones I would think about it.

It was a great game for its time.


What they should do is re master Quake 1 and Quake 2, put those one one DVD and sell that. I mean the cost of development would probably be nearly as high as making a whole new game but I think it would sell like hotcakes.

I was disappointed when the game originally came out and was only for the Xbox.
I bought Rage hoping it'd be similar to Doom but it wasn't.
Glad to get to play this game, and it sounds like they're doing a fantastic job with the conversion.

Doom have always been released long time before on PC, than any console. Doom is a PC game, while Rage is consolized.

Rage was announced as a open world action game similar to Borderlands, so it could never be anything like Doom.

I did never buy Doom 3, so i will probably buy this new Doom 3 release.
