No new hardware announced
Microsoft has done its job at the E3 and introduced a lot of great games, SmartGlass, Xbox Music, Internet Explorer for Xbox and more but no new hardware
Microsoft has just finished its conference on this year's E3 and we have here a brief summary of the more relevant highlights of the event.
Here we go:
SmartGlass: Basically this is a service to deliver the Xbox experience to any computer, tablet, phone and be able to play, watch shows/movies, listening to music, control Xbox remotely, multiscreen technology and more. With this you can start a movie on your phone and send it to your Xbox 360's big screen, then continue watching it on your laptop or tablet. Xbox games with SmartGlass enabled can feature controls from a phone or tablet, for example you can set up tactics in Madden 13 or even control some movements with the touchscreen of your tablet/phone. The same on Halo 4, you can check important data in real time while playing, the possibilities are infinite. Compatible with Windows Phone 7, Apple iOS and Android devices. Launching worldwide this fall.
Improved Bing voice search: They are extending the voice search capabilities of Bing with Kinect and enabling that on 12 new countries such as Spain, Mexico, France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland to name a few.
Internet Explorer for Xbox 360: At last, Microsoft will bring a web browser to our console. It is not going to be a regular browser because it will use Bing voice recognition and SmartGlass remote control capabilities (Touch screens of our devices) to navigate the web. Coming this year.
Xbox Music service: Basically a music store with more than 30 million tracks. Compatible with PC, tablets, phones and more. Sharing capabilities, streaming services and more.
New video and shows Apps: Depending on what region of the world you are you'll be getting BBC, Machinima, Paramount Comedy, Univision Videos.
New sports Apps: With live shows and more. UFC, MLB.tv, NBA League Pass (2400 live games), NHL Gamecenter, ESPN 24/7 live broadcast (1,2,3 and U). Of course, all in HD.
Nike+ Fitness Kinect Training service: Nike will bring us all the Fitness experience to our Xbox 360's kinect with phone and tablet integration. Coming Holiday 2012.
Windows 8: To be compatible with all the previously mentioned services
As for the games:
Halo 4: A new trailer has been shown about the story behind and new weapons like the new Sniper Rifle. SmartGlass capabilities and more.
Splinter Cell: Blacklist: The first footage of in-game playing. The most relevant in the "Target in motion feature". Coming Spring 2013.
Madden 13: Deeper interaction with Kinect and SmartGlass. You can now set up tactics and give orders with your voice. Still no body tracking to play the game. Coming on August 28th.
Fifa 13: The same as on Madden. The referee now "hears" your reaction about his decisions and could penalize you for that. Coming this Fall.
Fable The Journey: Just a new and short trailer.
Gears of War Judgement: New trailer showing a chained and arrested Damon Baird. Coming on 2013.
Forza Horizon: This is Forza in the open road. Open tracks with traffic, night races and much more. Pretty exciting to be honest. Coming on October 23rd 2012.
Tomb Raider: New gameplay footage showing impressive environments, fluid animations and tons of action. Imagine Uncharted but reinvented and better looking. DLC will be first on Xbox 360.
Resident Evil 6: New gameplay footage showing a lot of action in a Japanese city. It's better to watch it rather than describe it. DLC first coming on Xbox 360.
Wreckateer: Xbox Live's new Kinect game where you control a catapult with different kinds of ammunition to destroy medieval castles. Not very interesting to be honest. Coming this Summer.
South Park: The Stick of Truth: New South Park game where you are take the role of the new kid on the town who join forces with the 4 main characters. The game is like watching a South Park episode. Smartglass interaction. Coming on March 5th 2013.
Three new "exclusive" and world premier titles: Ascend New Gods, an online game with a persistant and asynchronous world, LocoCycle (no info given apart from showing a futuristic motorbike) and Matter a mixture of Portal and Marble Madness.
Dance Central 3: Usher performed a live choreography and not much more.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 2: To close the show. Long gameplay featuring futuristic environment and weapons in a city controlled by drones who attacks us. You can even be in control of UAVs and pilot Jets. It remembered us of Ghost Recond Future Soldier. DLC first coming on Xbox 360.
