Exclamation Diablo III Ban Hammer striking now!

If you’re cheating, you could be permabanned.

Blizzard would like to remind cheaters that you can be permanently banned from the game if you get caught...

That's right, Blizzard has updated its official site with a statement saying it will issue permanent account bans to anyone violating the Diablo III end user license agreement.

And, since we’re talking always-on DRM, you should consider cheating in the game a serious threat.

    Here's their official statement:

Blizzard Entertainment has always taken cheating in any form in Blizzard games very seriously, and that's no different for Diablo® III. If a Diablo III player is found to be cheating or using hacks, bots, or modifications in any form, then as outlined in the Diablo III end user license agreement, that player can be permanently banned from the game. This means that the player will be permanently unable to log in to Battle.net® to play Diablo III with his or her account.

Playing Diablo III legitimately means playing with an unaltered game client. Doing otherwise violates our policies for Battle.net and Diablo III, and it goes against the spirit of fair play that all of our games are based on. We strongly recommend that you avoid using any hacks, cheats, bots, or exploits. Suspensions and bans of players that have used or start using cheats and hacks will begin in the near future.
And, if you have any doubts about that, well, Blizzard has started issuing the bans.

According to a post by community manager "Zarhym":

"We recently issued a round of account suspensions and bans to several thousand Diablo III players who were in violation of the Battle.net Terms of Use for cheating and/or using botting or hacking programs while playing."
So, there you go. Play clean, stay safe.

This why this game sorely needs a real offline mode, even if you are cheating being prevented from playing a game that is online only and not an MMO is taking the piss. I am all for banning those who are cheating, but not from blocking them entirely from a game they have paid for. If Blizzard hadn't been so lazy in the first place they could have easily made an offline version as the current one is just the online part of D2, but no they decided to make thier security problem into our problem instead, just a pure lazy and sneaky underhanded DRM trick. Sadly the game has sold so well (fully deserved as it'sa good game) as the massive install base means Blizzard don't have to give a rats arse about any of the offline option complaints.
    My gaming systems -
    Consoles - Wii, Xbox 360 Elite, Xbox 360 Jtag Jasper 2TB 3.5" HDD, PS3 60GB UK launch version, PS3 hacked with 500GB 3.5" HDD (2TB wouldn't work ).

    PC - i7 3930K @4.6GHZ, Asus Rampage IV Extreme, 2xRadeon 7970, 32GB DDR3, 4TB Raid HDD (4X Samsung Spinpoint F3, SSD boot drive OCZ Vertex 3 120GB )

These are gaming systems I am biased towards (may as well throw in everything from last gen and before as if the PC can emulate it I am likley to have it)

Why do they care that people use cheats & trainers in single player modes (as long as they don't affect leader boards)

They have no right to deny access to single player (online DRM has no rightful place here).

If you want to ban... then the people should demand their money back for being denied total access to their purchased product. If you still granted single player access but block off multiplayer... then there wouldn't be a problem with this sort of ban hammer.

I get the feeling that this isn't going to go down smooth and that consumer protection is going to get involved.

For those banned.... offline crack... and play on.

I'll wait for the gamepad support that most hack and slash types have. I'm really shocked that blizzard made this game a point and click only, I would've bought it day one. I can't justify using a mouse for a hack and slash, it just doesn't make any sense to me.
