Journey dev goes independent!
The developer behind cult digital PS3 titles Flow, Flower and Journey has just ended their game deal with PlayStation, and now they've raised $5.5 million from Benchmark Capital.
Thatgamecompany -studio behind the critically-acclaimed PlayStation Network titles Flow, Flower and Journey- has revealed that it has successfully raised $5.5m from Benchmark Capital, and it now seeks to go multi-platform.
That's right they will use the cash to “make games for more platforms to reach larger audiences”. and the new partnership will allow them to provide players “the highest quality experience.”“We have been very fortunate to have brought our players flOw, Flower and Journey through our three-game partnership with Sony Computer Entertainment America, Santa Monica Studio,” said studio boss Jenova Chen in a blog post. “We are extremely grateful to Sony and the many players who put their faith in us. Their support has turned Journey into the fastest selling title in PSN history.”
