    Exclamation RUMOR: Xbox 720 document leaked, details 2013 launch, Kinect 2, native 3D, AR glasses

    With six times the power of Xbox 360; 'Fortaleza Glasses'

    Check out a leaked document from Microsoft, which provides the first details on its Xbox 360 successor, or 'Xbox 720' as it’s referenced, and the successor to Kinect...

    Seems that a 56-page, detailed report, passing itself off as an internal Microsoft presentation about the future of Xbox has been "leaked".

    Apparently, the document lists a 2013 release for Xbox 720 and a "Kinect V2".

    The document also makes note of Xbox SmartGlass, which was just announced last week at E3, lending it some credibility.

    - XBOX 360 "limitations".

    It cites Xbox 360′s limitations as “no full fidelity AAA Games + Kinect V1 sensor,” no support for a full range of XTV platform scenarios, lacking modern entertainment capabilities (“Blu-ray, Native 3D,” and “2x1080p in/out”), and the inability to run “multiplexed or concurrent applications and services.”
    - XBOX 720 "specs".

    The document says the XBOX 360 successor [I]will boast six times the performance of Xbox 360, have a “native XTV/video STB,” “V1/V2 Kinect sensor processing,” “connectivity for glassses/sensors/peripherals,” “dedicated resources for next gen gameing,” “dedicated resources for Xbox 360 gaming,” and “true 1080p and full 3D.”

    - Core Architecture

    - Application
    * CPU Cores – 6-8x ARM/X86 @ 2GHz
    * GPU – 64ALU @ 1GHz

    - Back-Compat
    * CPU Cores – 3x PPC @ 3.2GHz

    - EDRAM – >32MB
    - Memory - 4GB, 128bit DDR4QoS for App Pool
    - Mass FLASH Storage – MLC
    - System

    * CPU Core - 2x ARM/X86 @ 2GHz
    * GPU - 48ALU @ 500MHz

    - Security System
    - Video/Audio Accel - 2HD Dec, 1HD Enc, DSP, XMA
    - Video Output - Flexible Resize / Compositing / 3D
    - NUI Offloal - Skeletal Tracking Accel.
    - Base IO - USB3.0, HDMI, DisplayPort, GigE,PCI-E, SATA, 802.11n
    - Device Specific IO - HSDPA, WiMAX, W-HDMI, ATSC,DisplayPort, LVDS
    - XBOX 720 "price".

    Its expected system cost is approximately $225.

    Compared to its competition, it expects Nintendo to launch what it labels as “Wii2″ and Sony to launch “PS4″ for “<$249″ and “<$399,” respectively. It aims to make Xbox 720 “the ONLY box you need for premium living room entertainment.”
    EDIT: JUST ADDING THIS LINE AT THE NEWS POSTERS REQUEST
    it should be pointed out that $225 is a cost price not retail (see GaussTek's post (#5) below).

    - Kinect V2.

    Kinect V2 is listed as including “improved voice recognition,” “better 3D play space recognition,” “four player concurrent tracking,” “dedicated HW processing,” and “better HD RGB camera.” That’s all in addition to “higher accuracy” and “stereo imaging vs mono.” It will also support four-person play.

    - "Fortaleza Glasses".

    A pair of glasses which will launch in 2014 that will allow players to “interact with the world in a revolutionary way.”

    Here's some of its Key Points:

    - Platform (Xbox 720) – breakthrough heads up and hands free device.
    - Sensors (Kinect) – seamless integration of the digital world with the physical world.
    - Content / Transitioning (Games and Movies) – contextual applications and experiences for your life.
    - Services (Xbox LIVE) – real time information on people, places and objects.
    - 3 Screen (Tablets and Phones) – largest and most immersive screen, in the living room and on the go

    The full document it's 56 pages long... So, it's somewhat hard to say someone could waste so much time creating this kind of elaborated fake.

    But again, remember this is still a Rumor.

    UPDATE:

    The Full presentation was deleted by Scribd, which makes us think it could be pretty much real!

    So, it looks this one could be pretty much real.

    Seems Scribd is preventing people from uploading any copy of the document!

    For now, here's a Pastebin link from its contents (no images):

    hmmm, this pic

    The TV shows a tech demo for ATI 4XXX GPU series, I know because I tried it recently on my laptop

    The whole thing seems legit, I JUST WANT IT to be capable of running Unreal4 and Luminous engines...thats all!

    interesting that the description of kinect v2 mirrors very closely the actual tech that ms bought before gutting it to make kinect, looks like they intend to put it back in now.

    that said given the cost of kinect v2 i dont see how ms will be able to maintain its premium pricing as a standalone / replacement unit if when they are including it in the new 720 and whilst the target price is welcome is it really feasible with the listed specs?

    i spotted
    "new live tiers" (page 52)
    "profit" (multiple pages)

    and what appears to be a trojan horse gameplan to sell it as a games console that does other stuff and over the course of 2 years turn it into an onlive / 360 hybrid that only uses cloud services and "never needs upgrading" (page 55, page 50, page 41 and more) but at the same time an expected 10 year lifespan, it cant be both.

    also ati on screen but amd gpu? and why do they reference it as xbox 720 i thought that was just a lazy and dumb way for us to describe it?

    Just a small clarification:

    - The expected system cost is $225, so they'll aim for a $299 price, according to Engadget (I haven't checked out the document yet, but it makes sense).

    I hope Gary can edit/add that part on the main story.

    (sorry guys, I was a bit in a hurry lol)

    will do. -- Most of the other sites think this is from late 2010, more of a future roadmap, with of course some things changed since then over the last 2 years. -- Would be neat to see what the 2012 version is like.

    this is all speculation at this point.

    Well if the specs of this sheet are to be believed, I wouldn't hold my breath for it to run either of those engines with out some major tweaking down.

    I honestly do not buy this, DDR4 is just GDDR3 repacked for RAM use, and the spec was never adopted or hasn't been yet. GDDR5 is much faster and if your making custom hardware why not just use that? It would be cheaper to buy something being actively produced...

    If this is true, I do like the fact that they pretty much kept the 360 in there and added too it. That would give them 100% BC and thats always a good thing on a new system.

    Yeah, and apparently there are two possible guys with that last name that work at MS, as investigated by GAF users (scroll down a bit).

    The fact that it was removed by some lawyer firm that MS use, could indicate it is real.

    In any case, yeah, this document is back from 2010, and I agree with Gary, would be nice to see how their plans have changed by now!
