Exclamation Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor is 'Kinect's biggest failure'?

    Review round-up.

A lot of media sites already reviewed the Kinect exclusive game 'Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor'.
'It does not work' and 'Should not have shipped' according to some of them.

It looks like reviewers went heavy on Kinect mech game developed by From Software and published by Capcom.

As you may know, they decided to drop the special large controller which distinguished the previous Steel Battalion games on the XBOX in favor of exclusive Kinect motion controls.

Well, scores from reviewers aren't particularly high and some of them even mention its "the worst implementation of Kinect controls I've ever experienced."

So it looks like the claims about being "the most accurate Kinect game ever" were just a lie.

Here are some of the reviews:

    - CVG: 3.7 - "Without Kinect this is an 8/10 game. With it, this is a maddening, brutal, clumsy mess that'll kick your ass and tie you in knots. It simply doesn't work."

    - Polygon: 1/10 - "Kinect may have many strengths, but recognizing small gestures isn't one of them. Heavy Armor requires them almost exclusively, turning gameplay into unending frustration."

    - Destructoid: 3.0 - "Maybe at some point, the Kinect requirement can be patched out of it. Until then, piloting these Vertical Tanks even while sober may result in a loss of brain cells."

    - Games Radar: 3.0 - "Probably the most unpardonable sin here is that there is nothing in Steel Battalion that can't be pulled off a hundred times better with a controller."

    - IGN: 3.0 - "Heavy Armor might be Kinect's most spectacular failure, but it's precisely because it's so ambitious."

    - Kinectaku: 4.0 - "Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor is a glorious failure, a noble attempt to reconcile the previously disconnected casual and hardcore camps."
Really a shame, considering how ambitious it was and how well the original games worked with the large (although expensive) controller.

    So, stay away from it!

I can't believe people take kinect seriously. Mine has been gathering dust after barely half an hours play for over a year. Anyways if its your thing that's fine but to release a game like this which is kinect only is just ridiculous.

I've got to agree, motion games suck, and they're really inaccurate. I don't really feel like jumping around and doing weird **** when I want to sit back, just chill and enjoy a game.

Kinect Adventures is way better with Kinect than it can ever be with a pad. So is Gunstringer, Fruit Ninja, Dance Central etc..
Dance Central is impossible with a pad.

But a tank game? How could it ever be good with Kinect?

Devs need to make games suited for Kinect, and not converting gamepad games to motion.

Kinect is not ****.. It just need true motion games, and not games that doesent work with motion.
Wii U including expensive Gamepad now costs less than a VITA, and only less than 1/3 of the price of Xbox One or PS4.

no suprises here, controls like that on a smaller scale in Metroid sucked big time and was an unneeded gimic, so a game based entirely around such a gimic was never going to be that great. Chalk up another fail for Cackcon.
    My gaming systems -
    Consoles - Wii, Xbox 360 Elite, Xbox 360 Jtag Jasper 2TB 3.5" HDD, PS3 60GB UK launch version, PS3 hacked with 500GB 3.5" HDD (2TB wouldn't work ).

    PC - i7 3930K @4.6GHZ, Asus Rampage IV Extreme, 2xRadeon 7970, 32GB DDR3, 4TB Raid HDD (4X Samsung Spinpoint F3, SSD boot drive OCZ Vertex 3 120GB )

These are gaming systems I am biased towards (may as well throw in everything from last gen and before as if the PC can emulate it I am likley to have it)
