Exclamation Bioware: ME 3 extended ending 'won't satisfy everyone'

The free DLC pack that expands upon the events at the end Mass Effect 3...

According to Bioware's exec producer Casey Hudson, Mass Effect 3's extended ending due for release this week won't satisfy everyone.

As you may know, the free DLC pack for Mass Effect 3 that will expand upon the events at the end of the game, is coming this week.

Well, Bioware's series lead, Casey Hudson, has warned players that some feedback they received on the controversial game conclusion couldn't be addressed.

"Ultimately our passion is entertaining people, so delighting them with our stories and giving them amazing worlds to escape to, that's what we love to do, so in this medium it just wouldn't make sense for us to make some kind of artistic statement, and then turn our backs on it forever," he said.

"There was some feedback that we can't address. There are people who just outright rejected the whole concept of the endings, and wanted us to start from scratch and redo everything. And we can't do that because that's not our story, we wouldn't know how to write that story.

"What excites us is the challenge of learning how people consume our stories, so it's a learning process for everybody. And then incorporating that feedback, that's how we make our work better."
And that's why it probably 'won't satisfy everyone', according to him.

"When things are really constructive like that, even when it's critical, it means a lot to us, because when you think about the artists and writers, all the people here - they work because they're passionate about games," said Hudson. "They're passionate about making a really great experience for players. So when they get constructive feedback, constructive criticism, they're really excited about that.

"You can never completely satisfy everyone. We've seen a whole range of feedback, ranging from people who wanted a total redo, to people who had concerns and questions about the original endings, to people who loved the original endings and have told us they don't want to change anything.

"So there's no doubt that there will be a whole new wave of discussion and debate, maybe even controversy. But we didn't do the Extended Cut because we're trying to make everybody happy, make it perfect - we just saw an opportunity to expand on things that we felt could add value to the experience, for those that appreciate it."
Remember, the free DLC will be launching on the PC and Xbox 360 on June 26. It will arrive to the PS3 a bit later, on July 4.

well it sure as sh*t wont satisfy me, a combination of this + the latest title update has rendered the game unplayable, it just freezes at the title screen (unless you use a live gold account ), i've spent the last 5 hours getting it to load (with some fantastic help from a poster on another forum). turns out that to make it work you have to log in to your profile then pull the network cable or disconnect your wireless connection and then it will start and play.

gee thanks ea, for giving me yet another reason to wish to see you go bankrupt.

No it isn't, this is the complete end, given that that none of the actors were called back last I heard, shows that they had already recorded them for it prior to the games release. My bet it was released in it's gimped form to rush it out and to get some attention, tho likley not the negative press it actually got, and would have been part of another DLC pack, likley a pay one.

    Consoles - Wii, Xbox 360 Elite, Xbox 360 Jtag Jasper 2TB 3.5" HDD, PS3 60GB UK launch version, PS3 hacked with 500GB 3.5" HDD (2TB wouldn't work ).

    PC - i7 3930K @4.6GHZ, Asus Rampage IV Extreme, 2xRadeon 7970, 32GB DDR3, 4TB Raid HDD (4X Samsung Spinpoint F3, SSD boot drive OCZ Vertex 3 120GB )

These are gaming systems I am biased towards (may as well throw in everything from last gen and before as if the PC can emulate it I am likley to have it)

I haven't finished any of the games but this is making me curious.
[My links are not selling counterfeit products, and link to a genuine lawfirm, if people can make use of it, more the better. I have never spammed or flooded my posts with my "message". NEVER a single time. With all due respect, I hope you realise it takes all kinds to make this community. Some of us are schoolkids who link to manga websites, others have our own businesses who may link to it. Not all fingers are the same, and not everyone spams. Sincerely].

I strongly advise buying the games, as they are worth it, but getting hacked DLC as the 3rd games proves, it's incomplete without it and so you are made to pay extra for the full game. That said the ME1 bring down the sky expansion is a real bugger to get working, so even tho it's free I ended up having to use a hacked version just to get it to work.

Prime example tho with needing the DLC for the story to make sense, at the start of 3, Shepard is relieved of duty and under house arrest, for as Anderson puts it "The **** you done", if you had the Arrival DLC then that **** you done is actually explained (so technically speaking you didn't do anythign if you didn't get the dlc), and Anderson then tells you the actual reason why ( I won't say and spoil it for you). Same with the other DLC's the story can be a bit confusing without them, as it's hard to tie up endings when you didn't get what is being ended. Throw in the from ashes DLC litterally being intergral to the ame and should never have been seperate and it's all the justification I needed for gettign the DLC I didn't have knocked off. It's just a shame they didn't do like they did with drgon age and release a complete edition with all the DLC included, it's daft I know after having bought one and 2 and a lot of the DLC, but I would have bought them if they had.
