Exclamation New Final Fantasy VII for PC revealed

    Announcement trailer deployed

Square has revealed today the inminent availability of a new Final Fantasy VII game for PC with improved graphics and online options

Shocking news we have here. Square has revealed (and also put online an entire website) the new version on the classic and might Final Fantasy VII game for PC wich include new and revamped graphics, more options and online features such as cloud saves and more.

    According to VG24/7:

No release date or price has been confirmed. Square told VG247 today that “we will be issuing more information within the next 24 hours.”

The revamp will include now “a host of new online features”. Achievements are to be included, of which there are 36, as is something called the “Character Booster”.

“With the Character Booster you can increase your HP, MP and Gil levels to their maximum, all with the simple click of a button, leaving you to enjoy your adventure,” said the site.

The game will support cloud saving: “With cloud save support in Final Fantasy VII you can continue your game progress right where you left off, all you need is an internet connection.”

Minimum specs for the new version are:

    -Microsoft Windows XP/Vista/7 (32/64-bit)
    -2GHz Processor or faster
    -1GB RAM
    -DirectX 9-compatible graphic card

The PC version of FFVII will release “soon,” and will be available exclusively through the Square Enix store. It’ll be shipped in English, French, German and Spanish.

A Final Fantasy VII remake has been rumoured and begged for since time immemorial. Square president Yoichi Wada recently poured water on the talk, however, saying the project could kill the franchise.

I lost my PSX copy, and now the only copy I have is the PC version of FF VII, but I wouldn't be opposed to buying this one if the price is ok, and they make it less irritating on the eyes. I can't bring myself to play it because the gfx bother me so much... this coming from a guy who openely admits not giving a crap about gfx. Still, if they do release it I would hope they fill in some holes in the story; although, with the release of Crisis Core most things make sense, it would still be cool to have everything explained in the same game.

To be honest with you, most PS1 games have not aged very well at all... Some are fantastic to this very day like SOTN or Road Rash (not the 3D one.) since they used mostly 2D stuff it was a lot less blocky and jagged.

That being said if you have a decent PC and download ePSX emulator and try some of the shader plug ins on the net, the one is really great for some of those games and turns the old PS1 games into cell shaded games. Will not make them look awesome or anything but at least your eyes will not bleed.

I haven't tried it with FF7 so I am not sure how it would work, the game had sort of cell shaded look already so it might make it semi decent?

There's no taming the crapness of FFVII gfx, I had the PS1 version... even back then it felt like I was getting kicked in the eyes, lost that, bought the PC version (I had a top of the line gaming PC at that time) looking at the game still felt like I was they were dropping vinegar inside my eye, I downloaded a whole bunch of unofficial patches to make the PC version an "Ultimate" version... a bit better than the other 2, but still felt like radiation poisoning for my eyes.

I can play all the SNES FF no problem, it's only this blocky mess that bothers me so much. Part VIII also looks horrible, but at the time I will admit that I thought that game looked good. IX definitely aged better, and more cartoonish like games such as Xenogears.

It's incredible but I think most SNES games look much better than PS1 games these days, I mean Actraiser 2? That game is B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L-L, the Ninja Gaiden Triology with the broader color pallette than the NES games also looks great.
