Exclamation New PS3 model (CECH-4000) spotted at the FCC

    New super-slim model?

A new revised Playstation 3 hardware has got the FCC aprovement and seems to be a smaller model than the actual one

Sony could release a new and smaller version of its Playstation 3. The FCC website was showing some new designs of one of this machines.

From left to right (PS3 Fat, PS3 Slim and the new PS3 super-slim)

    According to The SixthAxis:

A new PS3 model has apparently been spotted – coded CECH-4000.

The revision, details of which are unknown just now, was sighted on the FCC ratings website this morning, with dozens of Japanese blogs picking up the story immediately.

From the looks of things the label is in a different place, could this be a new casing?

Rumours of a new ‘slimmer’ PS3 have been circulating for months – whether or not this new sighting is anything to do with this we’ll just have to wait and see.

Sony rebranded and revised the first generation PS3 at Gamescom back in 2009. With the same event just a month away, could this mean another remix of the platform is on the cards?
The picture that ilustrates this post is just a fan-render.

that fan made render looks bloody nice but i have to wonder what facilities or features sony will remove from this one?

will the remove the network port and go wifi only?
will they fix the hdd inside and remove the option to upgrade?
now they got blu-ray into homes will they remove br playback?

we now know the Xbox One's game licensing policy was written from the ground up for companies. It's aggressively anti-consumer and anti-middle class, and it outright ignores underprivileged gamers. It's gross, despicable, greedy, pathetic, cowardly and out of touch with a growing global resentment for corporations. - Polygon 7th June 2013

Other rumors are external power brick

I expect this to be the flip top, external power brick super small hard drive version that will at long last bring the PS3 down into the 200 dollar range...

I think they will still keep the 2 USB ports but they could get away with just one.

Networking ports and wifi are so cheap I doubt they would take either one of those out.

About the external power brick it makes sense from the thermal stand point, one less thing to keep cool so you can cut down on the amount of copper or aluminum used, and the prices of those two things are crazy these days.

I heard another rumour that you prolly need to tilt ur psx... ahem... ps4 vertically so then the lens would read the disc better.

ha ha ha utter BS TRASH per usual pmsl.

yes sony did remove things off the slim models to cut down on production costs, but at least we can say this unlike nintendo, sony have given you a blu-ray drive that can actually play movies, what have nintendo done, they gave a DVD drive in the wii, theyve given a blu-ray drive in the wii-u but hold up, unless the console gets hacked your not allowed to play movies.

but hold up, you claim this isnt a problem, you dont mind not been able to play movies on nintendo systems, if this is the case, how can you take the p1ss and suggest to be bothered if sony removed it?

well history says that sony removes stuff from its late life cheap versions of its consoles, its nothing new they did it with the psone and the ps2 slim so of course its not me thats typing bs is it and i do still think that render looks very nice.

i'm still not entirely convinced that wii u has a bluray drive but yes, whatever they fit it will be to play games not movies, imagine how much better the ps3 would have been if its drive had been designed to play games rather than movies.

yes and to note your one sided dribble, so do MS and even nintendo.... take nintendo for a PERFECT example, lacking charger to reduce cost.... ohhh and the WII hmmm nintendo released a cheaper version that removed GC compatibility, so point proven all consoles remove something or the other to make it cheaper.

but my point in my post was, youd slate sony if they removed Blu ray movie playback.

ok erm id love to hear your reasons to back your BS comment up, how would not allowing movie/media support improve the PS3??

when it clearly proves you wrong, millions of gamers use their 360/ps3 for media.

but to the point (maybe you was kidding or maybe it was just your BS trash fanboy fantasy hoping to come true) if this was to be true, youd be first to b1tch that sony removed this feature, but on the other hand, you accept the fact that nintendo never even offered it.

so how is it, when its nintendo its acceptible, its not needed, its a games console, but then say the complete opposite for another system.

well its acceptable because nintendo sell games consoles although the wii u seems to be drifting away from that, the ps3 was at least in the beginning sold as a blu ray player and later as a games / multimedia system, and no, i dont really expect them to remove br playback.

as for your other rubbish, ignoring the 3dsxl which i have made my disgust for very clear, the wii family edition is the first home system from nintendo that has removed a feature in its redesign even back to the nes and snes the case changed but the system remained the same with the handhelds each update has been seen to add something whilst like the wii removing bc after a few years (gb micro lost gb playback, dsi lost gba playback and maybe in a couple of years or so a new 3ds will drop ds bc).
