Exclamation Nintendo is giving away Special Edition Donkey Kong in Japan

For buying the digital version of New Super Mario Bros. 2 or Demon Training

If you buy the digital version of New Super Mario Bros. 2 or Demon Training you'll receive Donkey Kong for FREE.

Nintendo has a special gift for all Japanese customers, if you buy the digital version of New Super Mario Bros. 2 or Demon Training you'll receive a free copy of the Special Edition Donkey Kong for Nintendo 3DS.

This free copy of the game includes an extra stage that was removed from the original game in 1983 version for Famicom. So this "original edition" has never been sold (it was only included for European customers who bought the Mario 25th anniversary red Wii in 2010).

Not news. Who gives a **** if some japanese guys get a crappy digital nes game. It's not relevant enough to us.

I'm sick of seeing these minuscule copy pasta news posts from tinycartridge and other sites.

Well you are welcome to submit your own news.

And this news item was sourced from Wired, not really a minuscule site.

What Nintendo should do is re-issue the NES game on cart. with the missing level to all the owners that bought it back in '83!

The game is not free when you have to pay money to get it. Nothing anywhere is free when you are forced to pay money. Nintendo should kick these marketing people for lying, or isnt able to do their job right.

You get Donkey Kong at no cost if you BUY some game.
Wanna know why so many buggy games never gets fixed on Xbox 360 and Windows Phone?

Microsoft charges 40.000$ each time a Indie dev submits a patch.

Microsoft...They are as Indie friendly as my Ass.

Wii U in short: Free online, frequently Free "On Disk DLC" and no online passes.

You get Donkey Kong at no cost if you PAY FULL RETAIL TO BORROW some game.

    fixed that for ya !!

although actually since in this case the eu region got it included with the red wii console and it was dumped as both a wad file and a nes rom file pretty much anyone can get it for "free" and of course if you happen to own a 3ds compatible flashcard you can run the rom on a nes emulator.

Donkey_Kong_Original_Ed_25th_Anniversary_Exclusive _PAL_VC_NES_Wii-[release group name redacted as per rules] (contains wad and rom)

we now know the Xbox One's game licensing policy was written from the ground up for companies. It's aggressively anti-consumer and anti-middle class, and it outright ignores underprivileged gamers. It's gross, despicable, greedy, pathetic, cowardly and out of touch with a growing global resentment for corporations. - Polygon 7th June 2013
