This time, it isn't an 'error'.
EA has announced it will be discontinuing downloads of all Rock Band iOS apps at the end of the month.
Back in May, RockBack in May, Rock Band on iOS sent users a message that it would soon no longer be playable. But shortly after, EA said the message “was sent in error” and that it was "working to clarify the issue.”
It looks like the publisher simply notified users of its expiring song rights a few months too early.
Yes, Rock Band games will no longer be available on iOS as of July 31st. And nope, it doesn't seem to be a mistake now.
This is what the Q&A says:Upon booting up a Rock Band iOS game today (including Rock Band and Rock Band Reloaded), players will receive the following message: “Back up your game! On July 31, our Rock Band games will be leaving the App Store, and you can’t buy songs after that date. See our FAQs on how to back up your playlist.”
Of course, the game will still be 'playable' if you downloaded it before, but DLC will no longer be available."EA's licensing agreement with Harmonix is ending and as a result, EA is discontinuing downloads of Rock Band iOS and Rock Band Reloaded iOS on the App Store after July 31st."
So, if you are interested on it, grab it while you can.
Rock Band originally hit iOS on October 15, 2009, followed by Rock Band Reloaded on December 2, 2010.
