Exclamation Check out the 3DS XL European launch trailer

'Biggest screen ever on a Nintendo handheld console'

The 3DS XL is now out in Europe and Nintendo UK has released the new handheld launch trailer, showcasing... well, its bigger screens.

That's right, the Nintendo 3DS XL has launched this weekend across Europe (it is also now available in Japan).

Now, Nintendo UK has released a short promotional trailer to celebrate this, which compares the new iteration with the original Nintendo 3DS.

The footage used appears to be recycled from the announcement trailer broadcast on Nintendo Direct a little over a month ago, showing the original and larger model side-by-side, with some New Super Mario Bros. 2 action on both screens.
However, New Super Mario Bros. 2 is still a few weeks away, as it launches in Europe on August 17 (it is now available in Japan, though).

So, only NA is left. The 3DS XL will be released there on August 19 (along NSMB2).

    Watch the trailer below!

If it gets bigger now, it will be a table handheld like a portable PC.

Too bad i dont have time for any portable gaming machines thou except for Windows Phone 7.5 ane Android sometimes.

doesnt show people screaming "WHAT THE F**K" when the residual charge in the battery dies and the proud owner suddenly realize there is no way to charge the damned thing up without going out and spending more.

Battery is a always an issue on portables. Especially touch phones and gaming handhelds.
There is way better batteries, but the battery companies dont have a future if they release them on the market. They need to milk to stay alive.

Battery market is similar to CPU market. There is no WOW factor when a new Intel/AMD CPU is released.

When handhelds/phones require better batteries, they get only the necessary little improvement. Next year, new models.. Requires more power. They get that little extra power.

Overall the standby time is the same year after year. If you did use a Samsung Galaxy battery in a old Nokia 3210, you would probably have standby time of like 3 months, and probably "100 hours of speaking time." before recharging.

loli think you missed the point, i was talking about the fact that nintendo didnt include a charger of any kind with the 3dsxl/ll in japan or europe so once the initial charge was gone there was no way to recharge the damned thing without going out and buying a charger.

Hmm.. Thats insane...Its compatible with older chargers thou...if you have it..
With these big screens, the battery wont last long. Its a portable you need wired power for.

If you are on a 10 hour trip, there is no gaming device that can give you fun with a handheld during that time. Cell phones is even worse.

actually, at around 8 hours this isnt bad, they filled the bigger case with a bigger battery , assuming you didnt trade your psu in with your 3ds to buy the xl, even worse, some stores dont have the chargers in stock, my local grainger said i could buy an xl but i'd have to place a preorder for the psu / cradle pack (an extra £20) as they didnt get any yet but, as i said, i'm not buying one out of disgust until its sold in a working form by nintendo and until we get our updated nintendo network accounts that tie our digital content to our named account not system so i can have my ambassador crap on both my 3ds and 3dsxl.

but then ask what game store is going to accept your old 3DS when you part exchange or trade it in to get the 3DS XL if your to keep your charger in order to charge your XL.

this comment is like PS3 gamers saying its ok if sony wasnt to release a power cable with a PS3 model because you could either use a kettle power cable or use your old PS3 cable.... its has no excuse if it requires power it should by law come with a means of connecting it to a power supply, if nintendo do not correct this before its launch, it will not go down well, the only people that will accept this is ok will be the nintendo fanboys.

I know nintendo are cheap, releasing revamp last gen systems or a handheld that cant even compete with mobile devices, but not including a charger really does take the biscuit.

also like how the trailer is done, the screens are far away, because when you actually see a game running on the XL (like i saw super mario land) it looked stretched and pixelated.

8 Hours is not bad on XL, but i would never buy it without a charger. How do they expect to sell much XL without a charger? A charger wouldnt add much to the cost, and besides. how many 3DS owners buy a XL already, and keep the old just because of its PSU?

For once I agree with you guys. Selling it without a charger is not a good thing.

The whole no-charger thing is just crazy. I am not sure what the thought process was with this one.

NOA is however selling 3DSXL with a charger.. (THANK GOD)

I played one saturday in the store.. It looks good.. Feels good.. so i ordered mine.

There is no screen stretching.. (the screens are the same resolution as the 3ds).

There is however some very minor pixelization due to the larger screen, becuase the screen has the same PPI.

homnestly though, to me it was a more enjoyable experience than the regual 3ds. I really do wish they would have included a higher PPI screen.. But it really is fine the way it is.

Well happy with mine got a free charger at tesco that can charge both dsi/3ds and ds and more discount than I should have got by bundling a game too. But know the frustration here, perhaps if they were going to do this they needed to give a redemption voucher for a free charger inside so the purchaser can make the choice if they do not wish to have another charger hanging about. But I do not trust Nintendo as the charger connection in the lifetime of the ds changed 3 times to keep with a universal connnection to keep replacement cheap and easy.

a bit like selling an hd games console and then not including a lead to connect it to an hdtv?

ps this isnt an excuse for nintendos stupidity, just saying that the pot and kettle come into play here.

even MS dont include hdmi cables anymore and agree its stupid but when i bought a new 360 to play GoW3 it never had an hdmi so i went back to the store and got one free.

but think this is a tactic nintendo are doing to force more money out of your pockets, same as the XLs circle pad pro (lets make a brick even bricker) when they have plenty of room to add 2 circle pads, but ninendo know that people who buy the xl will also buy the circle pad pro in order to play certain games as intended.

cant wait to see if they do the same for the wii u, either its main psu cable and tell its fanboys its ok it uses a wii psu cable or not include a means of charging its ifad controller.

yes, i was disappointed that both my ps3 and launch 360 had only composite leads and again when the hdmi 360's came out without hdmi lead, i'm betting Nintendo do the same with wii u.

Nintendo's tactic of not including a psu is forcing my money to stay in my wallet not out of it, i didn't buy an xl on launch day and still don't intend to pick one up until the psu is included.

i dont understand how you still cant understand that the xl is just a "big" 3ds and not a redesign / update so was never going to include a second circle pad, maybe they will include one in a year or so when a 3dsi (or whatever) launches, as for the xl cpp i think its less of an issue since the xl is already a bit too big to be much more than a home version of the 3ds.

EDIT: just to note that 3dsll has sold over 1/5th of the lifetime vita sales in two days even without a psu
