The same day as Windows 8 release.
Microsoft has reaffirmed that its Surface for Windows RT tablet will go on sale at the same time as Windows 8.
Still no pricing or release date for the Windows 8 PRO version.
Microsoft has confirmed an October 26 release date for its Surface tablet.
However, it's only the ARM-based version running Windows RT. It's to be followed 90 days later by a pricier Intel-based version running Windows 8 Pro.
MS said that the Surface for Windows RT tablet is expected to be priced "competitive with a comparable ARM tablet", with "Intel Ultrabook pricing" for the Surface for Windows 8 Pro."The next version of our operating system, Windows 8, will be generally available on October 26, 2012. At that time, we will begin selling the Surface, a series of Microsoft-designed and manufactured hardware devices."
Based on that statement, CNET speculates that cheaper Surface tablets could cost as little as $500-$600, while more expensive ones could top $1,000.
So, do you like the look of Microsoft Surface? Are you interested on the Windows RT version or would you rather wait for the, obviously more expensive, Windows 8 PRO one?
