Exclamation Wii U To Have Achievement System Called ‘Wii U Accomplishments’?

Is it a 'feature' to match what Xbox Live and PSN has already?

Looks like Nintendo has decided to offer 'Achievements' and/or 'Trophies' with their new Wii U console

A Wii U achievement system may be in the works by Nintendo.

The image is an alleged screenshot of the “Career Design Document” for upcoming racing game Project Cars, which is scheduled to release in 2013 for Wii U, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC.

Based on the document, Nintendo’s forthcoming console will feature ‘Wii U Accomplishments.’

I hope not... Most games don't need them and do not benefit from them. The games that the concept seems like it would fit, it feels like most of those games would have been better off forgetting about it...

I did like some of the achievements for Portal and Portal 2 those where fun and it seems to fit the game like a glove.

i still prefer unlockables to these pathetic e-penis extensions and a bill to pay for the former unlockables as dlc

we now know the Xbox One's game licensing policy was written from the ground up for companies. It's aggressively anti-consumer and anti-middle class, and it outright ignores underprivileged gamers. It's gross, despicable, greedy, pathetic, cowardly and out of touch with a growing global resentment for corporations. - Polygon 7th June 2013

You know what achievements really mean to me?

Seeing the poster artwork on the SNES version of "Street Fighter 2 Turbo" (Not the Super not the Champion.....) You had to beat the game on the hardest setting all the way through with out a single lost match.

I was the only one that I knew of my area that could pull it off on command with most of the fighters.

I got so heavy into that game I could tell you how many frames a move took and I think I got a little carried away.... lol

Edit: Later on I got a Game Genie for the SNES and you could just cheat your way to that ending, but being able to do it with out :P lol Loved that game and the Game Genie combo, you could enable air moves and speed like 20 stars... The game got crazy fun at parties that way.

Why not? Windows 8 will have it as standard maybe.

    - PC, Xbox 360 and Windows Phone uses shared account for achievements.
    - Android uses OpenFeint (LIVE rip-off)
    - ISheep uses OpenFeint.
    - PS3 have Trophies
    - Steam have the most useless achievement system on any system as it have no goal. There is no global score or anything like Feint, Trophies and Achievements.

Achievements does indeed change the way of gaming. Sometime for the better, and sometimes for the worse.
Wanna know why so many buggy games never gets fixed on Xbox 360 and Windows Phone?

Microsoft charges 40.000$ each time a Indie dev submits a patch.

Microsoft...They are as Indie friendly as my Ass.

Wii U in short: Free online, frequently Free "On Disk DLC" and no online passes.

at first i didnt take much to trophies/gamerscore but they do in some cases bring a little more to a game.

for example do uncharted kill so many enemies with one punch after softening them up with gunfire, that on its own is like a little side mission if you chose to go for it, just completed mgs3 on vita, complete the game without killing anyone and find the mythical snake.

i prefare trophies/gamerpoints that require you to actually do something, something that you would normally miss, i cant stand trophies/gamerpoints that you get for simply loading the game for the first time or completing the tutorial level.

that pisses me off no end too, worst offender ever was sbk x, the second you hit start it gave one for "money well spent", it most certainly was not.

I love achievements, and it seems everyone else does too, given that all but Nintendo have implemented them.

But I can agree that they should be things that are actually... you know.. achievements.

I love it too as long as its like Achievements, Feint and Trophies.

STEAM achievement system is kinda worthless, and i hope they dont copy that. People dont seem to much about this system as it requires "YOU" to manually check every damn game to see it. On LIVE etc.. you have a total score which is something.

If you play 100 kiddie games, you easily get near 100.000 Gamerscore. It mostly doesent require skills, but i still like the gamerscore system.
People with 300.000 Gamerscore usually play most kiddie games released, because its easy to grind and increase score fast compared to FPS'es etc.
Fighting and Racing games is usually the most time consuming games to get 100% on. It may take 50-100 hours on a game. If you are damn good in a fighting game, its not that time consuming thou.

wasnt it better though when "achievements" were rewarded by unlocking new characters or levels or costumes rather than just a dumb message on the screen then being expected to pay for the stuff you would previously unlocked by playing well?

i hate platinum trophies or gamerpoints you can only get when you collect all trophies/gamerpoints and your sh1t out because you have to do online missions, i think all gamerpoints/trophies should be gainable ofline, i hate playing online.

i used to like it, but thanks to mods, people cheating totaly ruined it for me and simply cant be ar5ed anymore
