Exclamation ASDA slashes £50 off Wii U

    No official price cut yet...

Asda has chopped £50 off both editions of the Wii U console. Black 32GB Wii U with Nintendo Land now costs £249. White 8GB Wii U with no games costs £199.

UK Supermarket giant ASDA has cut the price of the Wii U, with the Premium Pack with Nintendo Land now on sale for just £249, and the 8GB Basic set for just £199. The offer is available from the ASDA Direct website.

ShopTo is also going below the £200 mark for the Basic set.

Now, however, there's no official price cut from Nintendo yet. The Wii U Premium Pack has a guideline RRP of £300, the Basic Pack an RRP of £250.

As you may know, the Wii U has struggled to gain traction in the UK market since its launch last year. Retailers hope the reductions can help stimulate sales of the hardware...

so now they are selling it at a small profit instead of the huge profits they had hoped to make if it had sold from the start like the wii did.

    the trade price hasnt changed.

£199 isnt bad but still too much for a last gen revamp with a tiny hdd, think nintendo should scrap the iFAD and include a normal controller, make the iFAD optional and this will reduce its cost and will be what its worth.

Even if this isnt the official price cut i think its too late! If Nintendo would have brought the Wii U at that price from the start then their sales would of been up Simple as that. Now all people are bothered about is the next gen consoles that are just around the corner.
