Media, burner and game compatibility

after a bad firmware flash on my samsung h552b that seems to have killed my drive,i tried my sony dvd rw dw-q30a used dvdinfo to change the bitsettings and got 3 coasters....bought a pioneer 710 (sticker says 111d) with firmware 1.06.....firmware seemed old but after one bad flash i went ahead and just started burnning without the update.right out of the box,no dvdinfo. and right now i'm 2 for 2..perfect dark usa,and farcry usa both boot fine.kinda slow but a direct boot....i mainly just wanted ppl out there with firmware 1.06 not to chance it on the update.i cant stress this enough,if you are getting bad burns BUY A PIONEER.

Yips same here,get a pioneer or a burner that also suport layer jumping burning,becuase that is the problem whit hitachi not reading games.

Could some check(whit dvdinfo or other programs) if your dvd suport layer jumping burning and if your dvd works in 360 then,becuase the pioneers is the only drive i have that suport it.

Layer jumping? I haven't heard of this in any of the threads. Is this an additional setting you can make to help Hitachi direct boot or am I jumping to conclusions?

Layer Jumping is from dvd-9 its when(normal in movies) the dvd-drive gonna from layer 1 to layer 2,in the old day's some players did get a delay for a few seconds,thats whay layer jumping recording did get kicked in.

Becuase the SS are on layer 1 and 2 the hitachi drive must make a layer jump.

Nec burners dasn't suport layer jumping recording,that's why everyone is having trouble whit it.

Pioneer das suport layer jump recording, so the jump from layer 1 till 2 is easyer for the hitachi drive.

The klicking your year on burned media not made on a dvd burner whit layer jumping recording suport is just the jump it is trying to make to the other layer.

hey board little info for those users with hitachi drive and firmware hack,say you have a backup that never boots up with simple open drive/close drive method and instead u gotta try the hd trick or one of those others ways to boot it,well i found out if u go to settings on your dashboard and make sure the clock settings are set at the right date and time,then reboot 360 wait till it gets to dashboard open drive,insert backup,close drive then sit back and it should load first time had this with 3 games i had to do controller method to boot now work first time sine i corrected my clock settings.

Mebay it helps if you set auto boot game off in dash.

I just always boot my games from dashboard and all my games work whitout any trick.

I got a quick questiion i flashes my x360 burnt PGR3 and it works fine no trick just load but when i tried to burn other games i get this error disk is dirty clean it with a clean cloth and "ok" is the only option, i tried the av trick the remote trick, nothin works, i cheked and the the iso is pre patched and NTSC/u jus like they suppostu be. any ideas on wha the prob should be i waisted like 3 dvd on Fifa 2k6 tigerwoods 2k6 ,

first game i tried was burnout revenge and it works slow load time but work straight boot no tricks tried MotoGp that didnt work,
gonna try Over G Fighter let ja kno the result soon,,,,

ok i see tehre is 2 versions of clonecd one by slysoft and one by elby so which companys do i use and what exact version of clonecd do i need like version # percise please i cant find a straight answer for it

o and is the hitachi more picky then the samsung drive for reading backups
