    burner: Pioneer dvr-111dbk
    burner FW: 1.23
    Media: Philips 2.4x
    Backup: Dead Rising PAL-UK
    Drive: 47dj
    Boot:NO
    burnspeed 2.4x

    burner: Pioneer dvr-111dbk
    burner FW: 1.29
    Media: Philips 2.4x
    Backup: Dead Rising PAL-UK
    Drive: 47dj
Boot: Direct, IF burned at 1x
    burnspeed 1x

remarks: burned at 2.4 with FW 1.23 it has a lot of trouble booting, at fw 1.29 and burned at 1x, it boots 75% of the time directly, if not, just eject/reload. Seems iffy Media.

edit: I experience a lot of hangups with this media. Which really sucks considering DR's save system .

I have an old Pioneer dvr108 burner with v1.2 firmware and a 360 with a samsung/toshiba dvd rom.
Will my burner be able to backup my games ok, is is compatable?
Just about all the other Pioneers mentioned here are 111's, the newer model.
Also Verbatim are the best discs to use for backups right?

Considering this is a thread about compatibility with Hitachi drives, chances are that people reading this can't give you the answer.

Sorry about that, didnt see the word Hitachi just the heading which saids Media, burner and game compatibiltiy and I had a burner question.
So now I stand corrected is there a link somewhere else here where I can see if my burner is compatible with burning 360 games?
    Thanks.

you did burn them with a DVD-rom booktype/bitsetting I hope?
If so, then I would say: no they can't

Yes I did, set it to 'media type: dvd+r dl' 'booktype: DVD-ROM' and when you interrogate the disk after burning it id's it as a 'dvd-rom'.

btw, thanks for the quick reply.

Haveyou tried different programs? imgburn is my personal fave. Also try burning on 1x speed. The media you use should be perfect.

It MUST be combination of OPA 2.1 and the NEC4551A burner.

It should work. I originally had a DVR-108 and had problems with my initial burns. I got a 111D and had the same problems. I replaced my laser and all of my backups (including those made on the DVR-108) are working - so you should be fine with that drive. I use Verbatims primarily but also bought a 3 pack of Memorex to test (before I replaced the laser) and those seem to work as well (including burning on Memorex with the DVR-108).

    need for speed carbon

All work from cold start no probs, I was using clone but now use img burn.
Also made accident with my first burn using clone and did not set speed, it was set to max by default and still burnt N4S carbon at about 6x and worked .

    Well chuffed.

Sorry i also use the maximus-Garyopa v2.3 Stealth firmware with my Hitachi 47dj drive.
