oo i was wondering because I tried burning burnout with clonecd and it failed at about 52% into the burning. I was using the crappy burner my dell came with, which is an HL-DT-ST GWA4164B drive. I also tried my Cyberhome DX162D with both Dynex DVD+DL and Verbatium DVD+DL. Both media were also used for the HL as well.

i hear dvddecrypter works just as good as long as you change the value so if you wanted to use that it wouldnt be a problem, just make sure when you do a dl movie you change the value back to default. if you need help with these settings then please let me know

    looking for info

just as info. If you follow these steps on Excel menu:

    1. Hit (DATA - Filter - Data Filter)

excel will add some tabs on the main cells (burner, media etc..). You can now select a specific burner and see what has been tested. Play around you will see what I mean.

I wouldn't get the DRU-820a. MrECK0 was succesfull with it, but I bought the Lite-on because I couldn't get the SONY DRU-820a to work. To clear all doubts I burned one yesterday ( it didn't work) then I burn the same file with the Lite-on (boot nicely). I don't know what's going on, I updated the firmware for the SONY as soon as I got it.. maybe that was a mistake. Lite-on is cheaper also...

My job only sells the Sony Dru-820a and the Pioneer DVR-710B5PK. I googled and found out more about the Pioneer 710. This was from another thread on google:

"the DVR-710 is a DVR-111(D), both are packed with additional retail crap. Calling it a 710 is pretty retarded."

It is cheaper then the sony with my discount, but I was thinking sony was the best since I saw I didn't have to do any tricks with it. So only 1 person has had success with a sony? this is confusing, lol. I would just order off new egg but I have no bank card and all my cards are maxed out.

I could always return the burners if they do not work to see which one works with a 30 day return policy and they also return blank media as well (I exchanged the dynex media for the verbatim media).

My job also sells a Lite-On SOHW-1673SU, anyone know if this would work? (Maybe it's a hidden retail model number like the pioneer is?)

All too confusing I know, lol. Any replies would be appreciated.

its interesting about the model number, usually the last letter of the number is the changed features like bare model without applications and front panel color, stuff like that. If you have a bank account your always eligible for paypal and i think newegg accepts that.
