sent a modded 360 to MS for repair

Just thought i'd let people know i sent my modded xbox back, still with ixtreme firmware. The warranty sticker was missing, I cleaned any sign of it off, and prize marks all over from opening it. Just got it back repaired, in a new case, not checked the serial yet. It is unmodded, so i think they've replaced alot of the stuff inside.

Was anything wrong with the drive before you sent it in? And what drive do you have now?

I had a hitachi drive before..now i have a benq..not tried to flash it yet though...i'll keep you updated

Thanks, My 360 should be coming sometime this week. I've been reading several threads and fear that most repairs get lite-ons now, but if you have a benq then perhaps I have some hope

UPS picked mine up today it's gotta go to franfurt though

as it's kind of a mix and match job

had to peel off serial number off another case as the case had melted off me being careless with a heatgun also the dvd drive has no laser the warranty stick is damaged but theres no marks on the case so im hopeful

Mine was picked up on Friday. It was still flashed with ixtreme and didn't have a warranty sticker. I made sure there was no trace by taking it off with meths. It's been fixed before just before Christmas and is already on its way back. So, it's either being sent back without having been fixed or they may have sent me a recon one as it's the second time it's broken. All a bit 50/50, not too positive, though.

DVD drive is F U B A R . I tried, but got more and more frustrated and really screwed this drive up on the inside. The outside looks serene and perfect like it was a untouched virgin... But on the inside... Its like a heroin addict that had needles in every vain. Poor, poor DVD drive. At this time, I have a single red light flashing but I called and said I have the 'ol 3ROD. I did say that intermittently only one light shows up but he didn't even ask what was happening on the TV.
The unit is OUT OF WARRANTY but within the 3 years to be covered for 3ROD and the sticker was saved on opening so...
The coffin should be here within a few days. It shall meet its maker, and with good luck, a refurb will return to me. I will not torture the next one if it comes back. If its a no go, its and E-bay special!
Other than that, what do you think the chances are that it will return from rehab a born again virgin?

Just got my 360 back today.

Seems the drive was replaced with a BenQ and the console is still banned from Live fresh out of the box

But they did give me a 30 day Live card. Too bad I still can't use it lol.

Bought a used 360 from a friend for 200$ (2 controllers, COD4, Halo3) and 4 days of play GTA4 it RROD on me.

sent to ms, the warrenty sticker appears to be a little damaged... although my buddy has never opened up the system (he is technically inept)

hopefully everything will go by smoothly and I can resume GTA4 and pick up Rockband

Well, my 360 has been broken yesterday. rrod. of course sticker i think is damaged or gone (my friend changed me a firmware). what I have to do with warranty?

Had the RROD on my Arcade 360 about 3 months ago, it is flashed and i have tried the xclamp fix with only a few hours of play before RROD back again. After reading many of the posts here decided to contact MS and they sent me the required paperwork to send it to Germany. Because of the work i had done on the Xbox I replaced the Xclamps but had a very damaged warranty seal, so removed any trace of it ever being there. Also the tape that overlaps the Drive was broken and had minor damage to one of the slots on the back of the console ( very minor ). I decided not to change the firmware and just leave it flashed.On the 28/5/2008 Ups picked up the 360, and it arrived in Germany on the 31/5/2008. On the 02/06/2008 i had an email to say it was on its way back and it arrived today the 06/06/2008( I am in England). Because it went and came back so quick didnt expect it to be fixed, but opened the box and inside was a 1 month Xbox Live gold card and a form saying that it was the motherboard that was at fault and had been replaced. And when I switched on the console and opened the tray it turned out to be my sammy and still flashed and working so i dont have to remove the new warranty sticker just kick into playing games again. Just one last point to say A very fast service from MS on this repair .

I swapped the bad MB, and sent it in under the shell/SN# from a working box (with sticker). Got mine back today fixed. But when I go console setting/info, this MB now has the same SN as the good one I swapped with.

So now I have 2 MBs with the same serial #. I have no idea how MS could change the SN from the MB.

I can't really complain too much since they fixed it for me.

Update:
I removed the new sticker last night. It's much easier to remove than the old sticker because it's thicker and the material is paperlike.
I opened the box and guess what, it has a spanking new mother board with different versions of heatsink. I will post the pic later. It also has a brand new Benq DVD drive. I flashed it last night. All is good.

On a sidenote, which DVD drive is the best: Samsung, Toshiba or Benq. I have all 3. To me the Samsung reads everything you throw at it, Hitachi is a hit or miss. Benq seems to take forever to load the game (I flashed at 8x instead of 12x)

I recently bought a new 175 watt falcon 360. Flashed the drive immediately after 2 weeks it started crashing and freezing !

The warrenty sticker is slightly damaged and the drive is still flashed! The case looks okay and doesn't have any major marks on it.

What should i do ? Sent it in like this.....? or reflash the original firmware?
