Wow you guys were all lucky....I think i'm gonna get some repair shop to fix it for me. I found some online.
Anyone interested in a warranty sticker? I bought it from ebay but never used because it took too long to get to me. Have pictures. PM if interested.

so basically, if you send in a firmware modded 360 in-warranty for repair to m$ there is nothing to worry about, right?
Mine has just got the RROD so i've registered with M$. Only problem is the warranty sticker is gone, is it better to leave it with the silver crap showing, or remove any sign that a sticker ever existed?

How long does it normally take to get the box back once MS gets it? I just sent mine in. It's not in their hands yet. I just want to know the ballpark number. I am in the US.

Just got mine back today... it took 7 days from when they rec'd it... Sent me a refurb.... w/ a Hitachi 47 in it... Looks pretty new as the manufacturer date is 04-2007.... BTW i am in the U.S. (OH).....
ups picked mine up last monday, and its scheduled to arrive back tomorrow. Not bad service atall that. It was modded with ixtreme, but i had kept the sticker with the hairdryer trick.
Hoping ill get a new machine, but probably a refurb. Hopefully ill get a samsung drive back.
They are putting the new Lite-on drives in xbox repairs from Mexico. Hope you get a older benq or something.
Well its arrived today. Im in work but my girlfriend has oepned it for me. The letter says that the motherboard was at fault. And that they have replacced the suspect component. It has also aparently had a "vigarous 2 hour testing period" Both manually and with computer diagnostics , lol.
It has my faceplate on, so it will be interesting to see if it actually my old one, save me reflashing it.
edit : and its the same serial number.

Well I was able to sell my broken 360 with all of the cables and stuff for 100 bucks. Then I went out and bought an arcade!! So now I'm all good and happy!
i sent three back last week and they returned all 3 back
1st returned unfixed due to tampering
2nd new dvd drive and motherboard new style security sticker
3rd same as the 2nd
also they seems to be a new drive (philips liteon model DG16D2S) ??????
looks like the hackers need to get busy..
MY DVD drive on my 360 has stopepd reading any discs. I've had it for less than a year and I flashed it about a month after I bought it. I removed all traces of the stickers not thinking I'd have a problem with yet (yah right)... anyway I'm gonna have to send it back and I'll update once I receive it to see if its been fixed.
I've already been looking for alternate repair centres and DVD drives off Ebay just in case.

Whats the procedure for sending it back to M$?
