    Exclamation PSP Wallpaper

    ive done everything like it says. but, it goes straight to the finished screen.

    First off I would like to thank PSP-Hacks.com for originaly posting this, they have a great site everyone should check it out! But back to the Tutorial...

    There are 12 months in a year, thus 12 possible backgrounds for the PSP. You MUST rename the bitmaps you download to XX.BMP (XX represents numeric two digit month)

    examples:

    * 01.BMP - January
    * 02.BMP - February
    * 03.BMP - March
    * 04.BMP - April
    * 05.BMP - May
    * 06.BMP - June
    * 07.BMP - July
    * 08.BMP - August
    * 09.BMP - September
    * 10.BMP - October
    * 11.BMP - November
    * 12.BMP - December

    Remember the following rules when using a custom background - the image must be:

    * a 24-bit Bitmap (BMP)
    * <= 150KB in size
    * <= 300x170 resolution

    Got it? Good.

    1. First create a USB connection between your PSP and PC.
    2. Extract PSPersonalize_v1a-kxploit.zip to your memory stick under \PSP\GAME - this will create two directories, so you'll end up with:
    1. PSP\GAME\PSPersonalize%
    2. PSP\GAME\PSPersonalize
    3. Rename your BMP's respectively
    4. Copy the BMP's to the root directory of your memory stick(meaning the very first window you see on the stick not in any subfolders).If Windows recognizes your PSP as drive letter i: then copy the bitmap(s) to i:\

    # Browse to the Game menu on your PSP
    # Select PSPersonalize - disregard any "Corrupted Data" - it's nothing
    # Boot PSPersonalize
    # It will automatically detect the BMP's in the root directory. Press "O" to confirm the background change or press "X" to cancel
    # You'll end up at a "finished..." screen. Press "Home" and return to the PSP menu
    # You should see your background, depending which month you selected. If you don't try rebooting the PSP

    *edit*
    make sure you name the pictures with numbers.

    ex: 08 is for August

    It should also be noted that sometimes you will experience a white screen, simply pressing X on the month again will change it to the desired background.

    EDIT: I'm moving this to the tutorial section.

    Nope, I have a 1.50, works just fine. But sometimes when you change the month, the bg will turn white, all you do it press X on the month again, and it works fine.

    Make sure the BMPs are in the ROOT of your psp memory stick. Also, make sure they are named correctly (01.BMP,02.BMP,etc.).

    After it says "Finished", You should be able to see the changes when you change the month. If not, reboot the psp, and it should take effect.

    You mean to rename a file to 01.bmp.month?
    Dont do this it wont work if you change the file extension. I´m not sure about it but if you name the file like 02-february.bmp it should work. Just try and error a bit on your own.

    For those that are still having trouble with this:

    Make sure you arent naming the file 02.BMP.BMP
    Sometimes when you save a file with a known file type, it already has the extension added. Double check by showing extensions for known file types:

    With windows explorer open ( not Internet Explorer ) go to TOOLS > Folder Options. Click on the VIEW tab, and look for the option to Hide extensions for known file types. Make sure this box is un-checked.

    Now go back to your 02.BMP and make sure it has the extension only once.

    Also, you do NOT have to keep the file on the PSP after its been flashed. It is safe to erase from the memory stick.

    Hope this helps anyone that still hasnt gotten it to work.

    to restore the original backgrounds, you need to download the original wallpaper pack here and simply use PSPersonalize again to restore them back to their original state.
