you will only be able to update for major dashboard updates off a cd off the microsft website

these only include the 2 major updates released each other any other updates you cant update unless included on a game

1. You might get banned or you might not get banned. Right now it seems to be 'safe' with the latest firmware and if you check all you backups for stealth. But who knows what might happen in the future. If MS decides to implement a new detection method for backups, we might all get banned.

In other words, there is ALWAYS a chance that you will get banned. If you really don't want to get banned, don't mod your 360.

from my understanding anyone who has been banned on 1.4 fw are people whom have had previous firmwares playing bad kreon rips were logged by m$ and banned at a later date.

Well that tells me that M$ can't detect us yet as long as we double checked it is stealthed correctly.

i know it was mentioned earlier in thread but i have 2x360's, one is banned and the other isn't and not flashed. All i want to know is it fine to swap Harddrive between them using same gamertag and playing backups on the flashed one then swapping HDD back to non-flashed to update Gamerscore and carry on playing orginals. I know all Gamerscore points will show as "aquired" on xbox.com from the banned console but was wondering if playing these backups on the modded console will leave some identification on the HDD that gets uploaded to MS when i connect to LIVE on the non flashed 360, or is it as some say just a disc check on startup when playing on LIVE

Got a modded xbox360, but not sure what firmware version is on it. I'm not interested in playing online games, purely offline. Recently my housemate has been fiddling with the media side (something which we never really use) and its saying a dashboard update is needed to play some video files.

Is it okay to update the dashboard via the net or will it affect my playing of backups?

a modded xbox is modded through the DVD drive firmware, a dashboard update has nothing to do with the DVD firmware. so yes update.
