    @xist:

    You are right. Having a seperate dump from your keys is not really neccesary when you have a complete nand dump.

    DCv3 and pandora are booted automatically when the battery is inserted. When adding a small app (Multi Loader) to the memstick you can choose how to start with the pandora battery; into DCv3 or normal boot.
    That only works for classic. That's what the discussion was about.

    Thanks FRanatic...that's cleared some things up for me....although from looking at M-e-X-x's post it reads to me that you can't use boosters app on a slim to use the Pandora battery normally.

    True. I missed his post. Just read it and already edited my previous post.

    Thanks a lot!

    One last question, is it possible to create a pandora's battery with the default slim psp battery? I've been poking around and I've seen conflicting reports.

    Soft-modding is possible.
    Hard-modding should be too, but not really sure on that one

    Erm... final question. Would it be possible for me to do the nand dump and use DCv3 to get cfw, and then dump the contents of my memory stick into a file on my computer for later use so I could use the memory stick normally? Or does DCv3 ensure that files are located in certain memory addresses that are required for what DCv3 does?

    Pnce you are on cfw, you can leave the stick as is. Only the ipl is stored on a different partition. The rest of the files are in the root. The DCv3 files do not interfer with normal usage.
    Just create the folders on the stick which you'll need. That way you'll always have DCv3 on standby, just in case.

    So, keeping the stick "as is" is pretty much standard procedure? It's amazing how something like that ends up seeming like a "momentus reveal".
    So the nand dump is really important. Gotcha. I should be able to switch back to OFW and do whatever, then make a nand dump and switch back and not do everything that I did before. I feel so free. Like imbaciles should be. THis stuff IS kind of confusing, after all.

    I've just read that every time a new cfw is installed that you should format flash1...so from the Official 3.60 i'd use DCv3 to install 3.71 m33-2 ->format flash1 -> Install 3.71 M33-4 ->Format flash1 -> Ready to go!

    Is that correct, and if so what are the effects of (not) doing it?

    Formatting flash1 gives the psp a 'fresh' start. It can resolve issues like iso's and homebrew not booting.
    It's not really neccesary but recommended.

    What will be in there before and after the CFW install? By formatting will i lose anything i'd want at a later date (is a backup necessary?) or is flash1 effectively empty in a new psp?

    You'll loose settings like time, date, sys language, background, networks settings, etc. After the format the psp will ask you to enter your settings the first time you boot the psp.

    Question about backing up rand

    I have done a few fat psps and a slim psp but I have never backed up the rand. What problem can come of this as all the psps work fine so far?
    Thanks
