Shenmue 3 coming ??
Maybe... thanks to crowdfunding
Yu Suzuki considers crowdfunding to bring us Shenmue 3.
According to a new report Shenmue creator,Yu Suzuki, is considering crowdfunding to deliver us the awaited Shenmue 3. The news comes from a French TV journalist Twitter (Sebastien Abdelhamid), that said:
“Yu Suzuki says he’s thinking about a Kickstarter-like model to fund Shenmue 3.”
According to VG247:
“Yu Suzuki would also like to continue the story of Shenmue in anime or manga form.”
What do you think about that? Let us know below.
"Shenmue 3 is one of the most well-roasted chestnuts in gaming’s history. Suzuki is asked about a sequel almost every time he’s interviewed or speaks with fans, and almost always gives some small snippet of information which fires hearts, minds and loins around the world.
Unfortunately, Sega has shown no interest in paying for the damn thing, so every resurrected hope has been dashed back down again by continued radio silence. This talk of crowdfunding is interesting, though.
1999′s Shenmue and its 2001 sequel pioneered a new kind of open-world gameplay which its creators hoped would allow players to do whatever they wanted; the concept lives on in a more streamlined form in stablemate Yakuza. While the game received strong critical receptions, they didn’t sell well and became almost instant cult classics."

Love the series
But do not think it will happen
That would be the largest Kickstarter project ever, next to the Deathstar?
For sure, it never seen the light.
I am sure if it goes to Kickstarter, they will raise a ton of money very quickly from allthe fans of the series.
Of course, that does not mean it will happen, most likely the company will go under after spending all the money on wine, woman, song, etc. or get bought up by new company since they raised so much money, and its not in the gameplan of the new owners.
Yu Suzuki may be the guy who created the world of Shenmue, fine....
But does he also own the rights to it as well?
How would Sega feel about this. One could only assume that they'd get first rights to publish such a Game it it were ever to come to light. By which time One needs to ask why Sega couldn't have funded this from the get go?
I mean you could take Duke Nukem 4 ever and repackage that as Shenmue 3, and everyone would line up to buy it.
So I doubt its got very much that this has to do with Money. Or else it would've been green-lighted yonks ago...
