Exclamation Xbox One Media Remote shown

    Price: $24.99

Leaked some days ago, the Xbox One Media Remote has been officially announced.

Microsoft has just announced officially the Xbox One Media Remote with a price of $24.99 in the US.

    According to Eurogamer:

"The remote lets you control video playback for Blu-ray movies and streaming video on Xbox One. The motion-activated backlit buttons illuminate as soon as you pick it up "allowing it to be used in the darkest of rooms while playing games, watching TV shows, movies and more", Microsoft said. It's out in early March.

It also includes dedicated Back and OneGuide buttons. The OneGuide button lets you access TV shows and movies through the Xbox program guide.

You can also use the media remote to control your TV/receiver power and volume through Kinect."

Nifty, but a few bucks too expensive. $19.99 would be about right, not $24.99

This little bastard should've been bundled at launch with the XB1, as a compliment to the media features that MS Marketing was over-hyping and as an alternative for those who don't want to use Kinect.

Since it's only IR, I expect cheap clones to come around soon enough.

This remote actually does remind me of a cheap PS2 DVD remote I had once (compared to the 'full size, fully featured' Sony remote).

It looks like the kind of cheap remote you get with some of the car stereos.

What's the point of using a remote? I thought voice commands were all the rage on Xbox One.

Or soon will ship a cheaper XB1 without the Kinect, maybe they will bundle in this Remote in exchange for the worthless Kinect.
