If you been following the Reddit threads, you should be well informed already about the huge debate regarding the 'Loot Boxes' in Star Wars Battlefront 2, but tonight EA has caved into the pressure from millions of gamers screaming about it, and turn them off for now.
So there you go, for now the 'buying' of loot boxes is out, but EA still looking at way to re-tool the idea and bring it back at later date.

I suspect the threat of legal action also played a part.

Also, does anyone have any air freshener? The quote stinks of PR BS.

The threat of legal action is the main reason. This is just them trying to spin the story, by pretending to give a shit about how gamers feel. Apparently the loot-boxes are seen as gambling in certain jurisdictions. Not only is it seen as gambling its seen as gambling marketed to children.

The truth is it was Disney execs that pulled EA strings.

With the next big star wars film due out in December they wanted this debate to end quickly before it dragged the movie down with it.

So not only did they not include them because of a higher power, but they may have also ****ed up their other franchises AND other companies because the law is getting involved.......excuse me while I laugh a little.
