Hey, I switched my PS3 on today and it's suddenly started overheating. It has not got YLOD though. I switch it on and after about 20 seconds the fans kick in at full speed and then on screen it says it's too hot and needs to be turned off. All of a sudden it just shuts down and the light starts blinking red.

Does anyone have any solutions to this? Would it be worth opening up (out of warranty) and applying some fresh thermal paste?

I have the same problem with my 60gb Original PS3,

It boots into XMB then 5 mins later it freezes and I get Green and Multi-Colored Dots on the screen, then I have to do a Hard Reset, and then it boots to a black screen, after 45 mins (cooled down) The same problem occurs...

I have read and read and read, and tonight I will Apply the YLOD Fix found on this site.
Even though its not YLOD, its probably going to happen soon anyways...

I have bought a Heat Gun at Lowes for $19.99 (which I will return when done using)
And Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Heat Compound
Watched the full 6 part Youtube and Downloaded the PDF

I will report back later tonight or in the AM

    Wish me Luck!
