    NEWS UPDATE: Yifan Lu added a 'batch' of 500 adapters to his IndieGoGo Project Page!

    Yifan Lu has started a project on Indiegogo to fund a 3G to microSD card adapter for hacked PlayStation Vita handhelds.

    When world-famous scene developer 'Yifan Lu' launch his neat project idea to replace the Vita 3G modem with a MicroSD adapter, it was within hours 100% funded, and now its over 550% funded, as such as bonus for all the backers and ones dying to have an 'adapter' for their hacked Vita handheld, he has added a batch of 500 adapters to be included as perk, and they are going fast, so if you have not supported this project yet, now the time to do so! :)

      That's a really cool idea. I don't understand why Sony even included a 3G chip. It's way cheaper to just use the wifi hotspot from your phone.

      Since the project been so popular with over 550% funded now.

      Yifan Lu has uploaded a video showing the progress, and adding a batch of 500 more adapters to those dying to get hold of one.

      Now I just need to get a 3G Vita (needed a second one anyway).

      Likely they were hoping to get money from the sim lock and there were (are?) networks which require you to pay extra for hotspot, if you had a smartphone at all.

      If you consider that this was probably in development for 2-3 years before release it kind of makes sense but I do think they should have ditched the idea by the time of release.

      The only way it would have worked is if all units had the feature and free data, think of games like Pokemon Go.
