I've got a backward compatible PS3 model: CECHE01 it beeps thee times during startup then the red light flashes. A while back the YLOD repair was done on it and this kept the issue at bay. Some sources suggested that it could be a hard drive issue. A known working hard drive was tested in the machine to no avail. I also have a non-backward compatible PS3 model: CECHK01 while this one works fine (or seems to) it's not backward comp. and that's the feature that I'm really looking to save here.

TL;DR - Will a motherboard from a CECHK01 work in a CECHE01? I could dissect both systems to visually inspect but that's an insane amount of screws if it doesn't work.

    Both totally different insides.
And no way you can get backward compatibility back by swapping guts.

Best thing to do is try ylod repair again but most likely you get at best another 6 monthd of usage.
