Video Gaming News Since 1995

A producer at Bethesda has blogged about how Microsoft messed up their marketing communications messages when promoting ODST which led to reviewers talking about the pricing of the game a whole lot more. Time and time again MS were dithering between whether ODST was a full new game or an 'expansion pack' which led to confusion.

Microsoft and/or Bungie totally bungled the marketing on this. First saying it was a standalone expansion pack, then coming out and saying wait, no, we're charging full price because - surprise! - we put "more" stuff in it and it's called Halo ODST now, vs it's original title, Halo Recon. Like Microsoft was ever going to sell this for less than full price. It is a new Halo title, it'll sell like hotcakes no matter what.

Because of the waffling, reviewers are now mentioning that Halo ODST may not be worth the price point, that it should've been cheaper, etc... Give me a break. First off, most games - especially first person shooters - are...
It's taken a while to get out, but Bungie have been caught red handed playing PS3 exclusive Uncharted 2. When asked how they can play a PS3 exclusive, they responding by stating that they 'play everything'. So first Cliffy B, and now Bungie also have a passionate love for Uncharted.

<blockquote>While At E3 2009, we spotted an anomaly, it was a couple of Bungie guys making their way through the crowed to play none other than, the Critically Acclaimed!, Uncharted 2 among Thieves Multiplayer Demo. When asked, “How could you play a PS3 Exclusive?†they responded. “We Play everything!â€, and apparently are big fans of the Uncharted series. I guess Cliffy B isn't the only one who has a secret love for Uncharted. Who knows! Maybe Bill Gates has a PS3 now, Probably a Slim, given Microsoft’s recent struggles with Windows Vista. Enjoy the Photos.</blockquote>

According to a leaked SEGA document, PS2 and Dreamcast games may well be heading over to PSN for digital download. Could this be yet another big surprise from Sony ruined prematurely once again?

<blockquote>An internal document leaked by Sega provides compelling information regarding the possibility of Sony brining last gen games to the PS3 in downloadable form. The document, discovered by Objectif-Sega has been removed at Sega's request, but a number of quotes have been recorded regarding the document's details. It looks like "SCEA wants to sell all PS2 titles on PSN," and with such a massive library, this may just be the shot in the arm the PS3 needs. Additionally, there was talk of brining Dreamcast games to the PS3 as well: "If we provide a list of DC titles SCEA will let us know which ones they're interested in having exclusively."</blockquote>

A leaked transcript between SONY and SEGA has revealed that the PS3's new motion control system will be available as of March 2010 in Japan.

<blockquote>That document not only indicates PS2 emulation in the PS3 again, but it also pins a date for Motion Control (still un-brand named) to see the consumer light of day. In terms of the former, "SCEA wants to sell all PS2 titles on PSN" says the document.

In the case of the release date for Motion Control, this will happen in "March 2010 in Japan. Bundles and pricing aren't mentioned".</blockquote>

Microsoft has confirmed that a new Xbox 360 wireless adapter is on the way. Moreover, an Italian Xbox advert has also revealed that the device will be making its way over to Europe as well.

<blockquote>The device was previously spied in an FCC filing stateside, while an Italian Xbox advert also revealed that the new gizmo is on the way.

Sadly, details are scant on when the adapter will arrive, and how much it will cost, but it seems likely the device will arrive before Christmas, as with just about every other gaming product ever conceived.</blockquote>
