A 2K manager recently posted up a scathing attack on EA, claiming that they lied that their patch for NBA LIVE 10 ws based on communtiy feedback. The post which has since been deleted stated EA were lying and simply built the patch PRIOR to the release of the game.

<blockquote>To say that the Live patch was based on community feedback is outrageous. There is no way they could get days/weeks of feedback, build a patch to fix all their issues, have passed cert, etc. without a very simple thing: they were building the patch before release. I shouldn’t even have to make you clear about this. You guys saw our efforts to get actual feedback as we put up countless threads about it. </blockquote>

Microsoft has shrugged off predictions that streaming gaming technology such as OnLive will damage the Xbox business. MS doubts that such technology will harm their gaming business in the forseeable future.

<blockquote>Microsoft has dismissed the possibility of streaming technology such as OnLive and Gaikai damagaing its Xbox business “for the foreseeable fututure.â€

Speaking at London Games Conference this evening, Xbox Live EMEA boss Jerry Johnson told BAFTA HQ – packed by industry delegates – that streaming tech was “not on an accelerated timeline".

“I think streaming technology is something that [the industry] is betting on longer term,†he said. “Right now I don’t believe that technology can scale out against the experience we can offer on a local machine.</blockquote>

According to an online report, MS are targetting words such as PS2 and PS3 to trigger adverts that attempt to encourage would be Playstation buyers into the world of Xbox 360. A very sneaky tactic if true.

<blockquote>That's what a post at Punch Jump says, noting that they are targeting words such as "PS2" and "PS3" as words to trigger ads that will hopefully entice those who are looking to take the next big step into the Xbox 360 camp.

They note that "One ad asks, 'Upgrading your PS2? Consider an Xbox 360 Elite with over 800 games and instant HD movies in full 1080p.'

I haven't seen any such ads around myself, but then, I more or less tune out such things unless something of particular merit catches my eye (and something like that would probably not). If this is indeed the case, however, has Microsoft been at this for some time? Or might this be a more recent measure meant to counter the recent price drop which has helped boost PlayStation 3 sales...

Naughty Dog has given a strong indication that in the next update, they will indeed be PUNISHING those gamers who decide to quit Uncharted 2 early. ND noted that the problem is currently infuriating so they wish to make sure it is discouraged.

<blockquote>Uncharted 2's epic single player campaign has garnered a lot of praise, but that's not a surprise considering the calibur of the first game's. What has shocked a lot of people is the game's multiplayer - Naughty Dog has provided a balanced and very fun experience with their latest addition to the franchise.

It seems they'll be tweaking the online multiplayer a bit, though, in an upcoming patch. They'll be making a few small changes to the basic gameplay, but the big thing they'll be looking at is punishing people for quitting the game early. "It's been a huge problem... it's infuriating, so we want to make sure it's discouraged," said creative director Amy Hennig.

No specific time frame for these updates were given,...

According to reliable Japanese newspaper Nikkei, a new version of the DSi will be out in Japan by the end of the year. Interestingly the new DSi is set to boast a 4" screen rather than the current 3.25" inch available at the moment.

<blockquote>
Though Nintendo’s third iteration of its successful handheld the DSI only arrived in Europe and North America a few months ago, Japan’s often reliable newspaper Nikkei has predicted that a new version of the handheld will be released in Japan before the end of the year.

The fourth version of the DS is said, according to Joystiq, to boast a 4†screen – a fair bit larger than the 3.25†screens seen on the current DSi.

Nikkei adds that the new model will replace the existing one and retail for exactly the same price – YEN 18,900. Older users are said to be driving force behind the visual upsizing.</blockquote>

Insomniac has revealed a thought that the PS3 will not be maxed out for at least another two or three years. They noted that the early years were all about getting things up and running, but now comes the exciting time where developers can start thinking about maxing out the system.

"I still think you're not going to see the PS3 really maxed out for another two to three years. We're using all of the PS3 right now, but you can always be more efficient in the way you use it."</blockquote>

Microsoft has decided to pull out of its sponsorship deal with Family Guy creator Seth McFarlane. MS were due to completely sponsor a special variety show but have since decided to pull out over fears that the content of the show do not provide a good fit for the Microsoft brand.

<blockquote>Such material was apparently a bit much for Microsoft.

"We initially chose to participate in the Seth and Alex variety show based on the audience composition and creative humor of 'Family Guy,' but after reviewing an early version of the variety show, it became clear that the content was not a fit with the Windows brand," said a Microsoft spokeswoman. "We continue to have a good partnership with Fox, Seth MacFarlane and Alex Borstein and are working with them in other areas. We continue to believe in the value of brand integrations and partnerships between brands, media companies and talent."

A recent announcement that NetFlix is coming to the PS3 next month posed a few questions as to whether MS would drop the Gold membership requirement to use the respective service on LIVE. Unfortunately they won't, so you'll still have to pay extra on the 360 even if you are already a NetFlix customer.

<blockquote>The announcement that video streaming service Netflix would be headed to PlayStation 3 next month left many wondering if Microsoft would respond by dropping the Xbox Live Gold membership requirement to use the service on the Xbox 360.

That answer, as of today, is no.

A company spokesperson reiterated to IGN the value of Xbox Live Gold status, saying it's online experience is still "a generation ahead of the competition" despite a yearly subscription cost.

"The Netflix experience on Xbox LIVE is unique and reflects our commitment for social entertainment. We believe we offer an experience today that is a generation ahead of what others are offering," the...

According to the 'leaked' CV of an animator, a new Goldeneye game is in development as his CV states the following: "Eurocom Entertainment Software, Derby, United Kingdom: July 09 – Sept 09 Animator – GoldenEye 2010 (Wii) - Animator on Activision’s James Bond series for the Nintendo Wii."

<blockquote>According to the CV of Craig Peck, animator at Eurocom Entertainment Software, a new GoldenEye game is in development for the Nintendo Wii.

Activision leaked their plans to release a new James Bond game earlier in the year, with 2010 as its intended release date. Peck's CV is the first indication that it might be another GoldenEye video game entry.

The N64 game GoldenEye 007, developed by Rare in 1997, is regarded as a classic, after being received incredibly well by critics. The 2006 game GoldenEye: Rogue Agent, developed by EA, was not so well received, to say the least.

According to reports, the National Health Service in the UK has endorsed Wii Fit Plus. As a result, Nintendo's product will be able to use the official Change4Life logo from the NHS on its TV and retail advertising.

OMN has revealed that the New Super Mario Bros. game for Wii took them around six hours to complete. However that figure was without collecting all the star coins, of which they'd assume to take another seven or so hours to collect as well.

<blockquote>ONM has answered a bunch of reader questions about the upcoming New Super Mario Bros. Wii game, which is being reviewed all over the place at the moment. Mike finished it yesterday and loved it.

Once question deals with that all important topic of size. "It took me around six hours to complete, but that was blitzing through it and not collecting the Star Coins. That will easily add another seven or eight hours to the proceedings, because you'll obviously have to play through most of the levels again and some of the coins are in really awkward positions this time," says ONM. </blockquote>

Microsoft has revealed their reasons as to why they blocked unauthorized storage solutions such as Datel's Max memory. They say they wanted to stop cheaters and protect consumers, but do we believe them? Is the real reason they didn't want Datel eating away at sales of their inferior and more expensive memory solutions?

<blockquote>A Microsoft spokesperson told IGN all memory units without a licensed official Xbox 360 logo are considered unauthorized and are "not guaranteed" to work after the update is installed.

"It has only recently become a wide spread enough issue that warranted us making this policy change," the spokesperson said. "Yes, USB sticks will still work with the Xbox 360. USB functionality is "read only" and thus can't be used to cheat in the same fashion as the unauthorized MUs are."

"We are doing this to protect the Xbox platform from cheating and to help ensure that customers purchase products that meet the compatibility, safety and compliance standards...
