showcasing a debugged out, retail PS3 Slim flashed with a custom 3.66 PUP. Yes the PUP is available -- but before you jump to any rash decision -- know this: There is no backup support, no custom payloads/syscalls, no geohot jailbreak (unsigned) homebrew ... there's nothing like that.

You can access PSN and all the XMB debug settings; but again, Install Package Files won't be installing any homebrew or pkgs ... you still gotta wait for that, and that could be a long while.

Really it's not worth upgrading just yet, which brings me to my next point: There is no turning back if you take the plunge by upgrading your 3.55 (or lower) hacked console ... unless you have an InFeCtuS chip and know what you're doing.
Bricks? No idea. I haven't tried yet. For that reason we aren't hosting the custom PUP here.

Instead you can find it here. Feeling ballsy? Try it out, let us know ... just...

I always thought this might happen in the future, as the future is always moving forward, and Sony is trying busy to selling more and more TV's, and they want to MAKE AS MUCH PROFIT as they possibly can, so now the truth has finally been found out regarding the new "K" model of PS3 slim coming soon to a store-shelf near you, it will NOT have this original now in Sony's eyes old-outdated component feature to use, besides since they also don't include the HDMI cable which you WILL NOW NEED with your new "K" PS3 slim console, you WILL OF COURSE BE FORCE to either buy ONE or better yet a HD TV before you walk out the store after they drain the rest of your cash in your pocketbook.

Ding-Ding. Sony only makes the retailer happy! That is their new motto!

Of course, Sony is saying CURRENT existing models will NOT be...

The Spanish 'scene' is on FIRE, burning HOT these days. Now the same person that figure out how to 'downgrade' PHAT v3.66 consoles has released his own CFW!

And guess what, it is the first v3.66 CFW! -- Huh? -- Yep, that is right! -- Now please RE-READ the next line "one thousand times" when your brain is working again!

Download links removed, as it is basically useless, more like POC, so DON'T install it! -- IT DOES NOT RUN ANY HOMEBREW OR BACKUPS!
Please read the above statement again!

On the heels of Spanish 'scene' starting to flow with new blood and power, we have seen recently on Github that a Spanish developer by the name of Matercrack has recently released a neat tool for playing with the dev_flash files.

The good thing with his version of the tool, is he claims it might even be possible now to re-pack the dev_flash files into your PUP file, there been other tools out there, but some were not easy to use and most didn't unpack or re-pack at all, personally I have not tested it to see what improvements it offers, but here is his translated README:

The talented developer Squarepusher2 has pointed out on his blog that "VBA PS3 is evolving into VBANext". As he puts it, "This new project will be a faster, slimmed-down version of VBA-M that is currently aimed at three platforms"(PS3, 360 and Mobile Platforms).

Also noted is that SNES9x Next will be the successor to SNES9x PS3.

One of the other emulators out there in the Jailbreak PS3 World has recently been updated, and the latest version of Mednafen is mind-blogging as it supports a ton of older 'retro' gaming systems!

We have to thank Robo Hobo for taking the time to make this project possible, and for Subcon959 for compiling the code into a useable package for all Jailbreak PS3 Owners

My god, I can't keep updated, I just posted regarding the r478 and then I am told that r486 is out, and even tho it has many improvements that help some games, it also has a few bugs in the auto-shader picker, so it this news update will be short-lived as another version is already in the pipelines.

Subcon959 has compiled the latest version for everyone, and it includes these wonderful improvements to help you in playing your retro games:

This is the very thing that some people in the 'scene' were scare was going to happen, because of how horrible the whole PSN server setup is, with the current tools that been released a new 'backdoor' has been found that allows CFW users to login to part of the new PSN network even tho it is now running on v3.66!

It like the old movie of 'wargames', but now we using PS3's and high-speed networks, and changing the settings, it is not our fault that Sony left ever single system even the retail boxs with hidden features in them that developers should only have access to, and besides they should had fix this problem already they had a whole month of 'downtime' to do what? -- Put back 'online' the same old un-fixed network, so hopefully by us reporting this problem, Sony will do the right thing, and finally fix the god damm mess!

After over 6 hard months of designing different PCBoards, and running into design flaws with the mounting of one of the main chips, I was so happy to learn that the first TEST board is up and working and being shipped out to the major backers and developers that are on-board with Bushing's wonderful project called OpenVizsla which the end goal is to design & build an affordable Open-Source USB Protocol Analyzer package, for all the little hobbyists out there in the world!

Normally these devices are all commerical and closed-source, limiting you to the options it can do, and draining your pocket-book, but they been helpful in the PS3 'scene' and allowing people to figure out how the original PSJailbreak, then later the PSDowngrade and now more recently the Cobra USB dongle.

But cracking those devices is child-play when it comes to this little gem of a...

For those that of you that have been busy restoring OtherOS onto their PS3 systems, r04drunner does not think the current distro's of Linux are designed well for the proper usage on your Jailbroken PS3 Consoles and he is right, so to that end he has been very busy working on his own Red Ribbon package!

Well it must be a slow news day out there, or is it because I have not been posting any news today, as all the other 'scene' sites decided to report on this old DH.org leak news on their front-pages, so I have decided to edit our valued crunching Krack3n member post he made in our regular forums earlier today, and move it to our front page also!

Infowars has an interesting article that exposes a recent memo sent to all Sony DADCemployees informing them that body scanners will be used on employees as they exit the facility. DADC stands for Sony Digital Audio Disc Corporation which manufacturers CDs, DVDs, UMDs, and Blu-ray Discs.
Infowars seems to be covering the story from a privacy and safety standpoint. Sony states in the confidential memo that the procedure is being put in place to deter theft and leaks from their media manufacturing plant. You can view the full article at the following link HERE

psn_pass_logo.jpg
IGN UK is reporting that Sony will be instituting a new "pass" system possibly aimed to thwart off the threat the used game industry.

Yesterday, German website Konsolentreff published early photos of the Resistance 3 PS3 bundle box showing a new logo that says "PSN Pass." The message read:

"Network features only available in countries that have PlayStation Store." However, no other details were provided.

SCEA responded to requests for comment this morning to clarify, saying this program requires customers to input a one-time use code to access a game's online capabilities, similar to EA's Online Pass introduced last year.

"We are always evaluating new programs for our online offering, and starting with Resistance 3 this September, we will be instituting a network pass program for PS3 games with online capabilities,"...

KaKaRaToKS has recently added the wonderful game called Scogger HD to his ever growing Humble Homebrew Collection.

If you have not check it out, you should it is wonderful idea and project and maybe someday it will get companies like Sony to change their mind, but I personally doubt it, but no matter in the meantime we can enjoy and support the developers to produce more great games like Scogger!

Jordandyckes has updated his PSN Download Manager to v3.97 and finally removed all those silly ad's in his program, so that was very nice of him to do for his ever growing fanbase that been using his program to grab their DLC at much faster speeds that Sony offers on their PSN network.
