It started inside a PowerPoint presentation

In March last year, TheVerge managed to obtain a Windows ninja cat sticker for their writer's laptop. And he has already been trying to track down the origin of the sticker for a few months before that, after seeing it appear on various Microsoft employee's laptops at recent Windows events.

So it seems Microsoft has entered into the new era of being 'cool' these days, ditching their white labcoats and shirt pocket-protectors and coke-bottle eye glasses, for a nice looking flying Ninja Cat sticker on their laptops that they bring around to various public events.

Launched Electronic Games, the first dedicated video games magazine, in 1981

Joyce Katz, a pioneer in the publishing of video games magazines in the 1980s and 1990s, died on Saturday. She was 76. Katz was part of the founding team that brought the first dedicated video games magazine to shelves in 1981.

Very sad news for retro gamers out there, before there was websites and archives, we had to wait each month and browse the newsstand and grab the current month's issue of magazine like 'Electronics Games' from Joyce Katz publishing arm to find out about the latest video games and reviews, and tips on possible walk-thrus and other hints.

NPD Group reports that video game spending fell 22% in June, but there's no need to panic.!

Industry tracker NPD Group recently released its video game sales figures for June, and they weren't pretty. Total consumer spending across the U.S. on video game products fell 22% annually to $652.2 million. Let's see which companies held up the best and which fared the worst during that decline.

As usual the PlayStation 4 was the NPD Winner for the Month of June 2016 in overall sales, yet again beating the Xbox One, but next month it will be tough battleground, with the much lower priced older Xbox One on sale to clear inventory in July, and the newer Xbox One S launching in August, and Sony not having anything new to come out to push out more sales that are showing signs of slowing down, its going to be fun to watch what occurs over the next two months, in the meantime this is how June'16 breaks down...

The woman learned to drive using an Xbox

A motorist who led police on a high speed chase like a scene from Grand Theft Auto had never passed her test and only learned to drive on the Xbox, a court heard. Jessica Pegg was pursued for three-miles through a city centre in a car that she bought for £100 off Facebook.

We all heard about the stories regarding 'woman' drivers, which is statistically not correct, but this one makes the case for it big time as she learned how to drive solely using her Xbox and Grand Theft Auto style, she went out into the real world driving for the first time!

Pokemon GO has basically overnight become its own religion with millions of followers flying, walking, driving around world getting into trouble, crossing borders, invading private places, taking over city parks, and other crazy madness just for the possible small chance of finding and catching a rare Pokemon located somewhere, someplace on their GPS and Camera equipped smartphone.

He was an avid player of violent video games, the officials told a news conference.

David Ali Sonboly was a quiet, helpful teenager who loved playing video games. His neighbours say there were no warning signs before his deadly rampage at a Munich shopping mall.

Another horrible violent crime, and media again as usual are quick to pull the trigger themselves and blame 'video games' for it!

DMCA has been one of the greatest problems in the U.S.A. over the last decade, and now Bunnie is taking on the govt. directly via a Lawsuit to get changes made to the act that been holding back technology advancements for a while now.

If you don't recall whom Bunnie is, then you are not a true hard-core gamer, he was one of the very first that hacked the original Xbox console, and even published a best-sellling book on it, and make his adventures in the shady hacking world part of his univ. thesis, and now he has decided to take on the USA govt. by launching a series of lawsuits against them along with the help of the EFF.org to get them to finally listen to the people into changing the DMCA that is preventing the public from making changes to their consoles.

La Petite Mort: Too 'crude' for some

Buttonmasher is Douglas Heaven's monthly column about video games, and how the way we play is changing and this month he looks into the growing world of 'erotic' type video games on our mobile phones.

One thing about video gaming on consoles is that it is controlled and basically games are truly censored and pigeon-holed into certain brackets of age groups, and one thing that is never allowed is anything border-line on the 'erotic' side, but when it comes to mobile gaming world, there is really no limits, you can produce any type of game you want and push it to the marketplace freely without going thru a big publisher and having to get an approved rating for your game, as such it has spawned a whole new era of 'erotic' gaming, and Douglas recently look into this growing area of 'erotic' gaming and has...

At E3 trade show, game companies are focusing on players as much as retail stores

The videogame industry’s bid to better embrace online-savvy gamers with live events will play out at the annual E3 trade show.

E3'16 will be a different type of 'gaming show', at one time E3 was nothing but selected invited press, that got to see the upcoming games in secret basically ahead of the general public so they can write about it in their next month published printed magazine, but times are changing, now websites rule the world instead of the printed mag. and streaming direct video has taken over from closed-door press-only conferences with a stage and demos, so E3 is trying to adapt and stay alive in this changing landscape for today's gamers.

To Make A New Updated Super Mario Movie

It may be a cult classic but the 1993 Super Mario Bros. movie was a critical and commercial bomb. Despite the fairly obvious lesson that the Mushroom Kingdom and Hollywood don't mix. So try it again!!

A bunched of leaked emails from the large Sony Pictures hack last week, has appeared online, and it shows that Sony is chatting with Nintendo in working out details for a new Super Mario movie, even tho the last one in '93 bomb'ed at the box office, I guess they figure with today's generation and new advanced moving making, and maybe in 3D filming, that an updated Mario movie will be an success.
