MaxConsole Reviews

Proudly assembled in the Ukraine, MaxConsole presents to you the:
Everdrive GBA X5

The list of features below for the newly released Everdrive GBA X5 from KRIKzz is very impressive for an Classic Retro Flashcart for us long-time Nintendo Gameboy Advance fans, but is does it really live up to its 'specs', well our very own MaxConsole Product Reviewer @realtimesave puts it thru all the possible tests, stress, games you can throw at it, and then some more, and you can read about it all below in his latest exclusive in-depth review! :)
It happened seemingly overni(gh)te – Epic Games' battle royale-style game, Fortnite, was made available for free download and immediately became a gaming sensation.

In less than a year the game had surpassed over a million players, and it shows no signs of slowing down. Its popularly has been fueled by Twitch streamers such as Ninja and Myth, and more recently a historic matchup which saw rapper Drake join Ninja's team for the most widely watched Twitch stream to date. While some critics have expressed criticism in its similarity to PUBG, the game's building mode adds an entirely new dimension and strategic element that makes Fortnite a much different...
There are very few women in the digital world who are more recognized than Lara Croft.
An English archaeologist, adventurer, fighter, and the main protagonist of the wildly successful video game franchise Tomb Raider.

Lara Croft: A Woman of Many Talents

Lara Amelia Croft was born in 1996, when Eidos Interactive launched Tomb Raider for Sega Saturn, PlayStation, and MS-DOS. The character, meant to be a female version of Indiana Jones, was originally called Lara Cruz. However, the marketing team decided that she needed to be more “UK-friendly”, so a new name was selected from the Derbyshire phonebook. In fact, Laura’s other signature traits, such as her hairstyle and figure, took some time to acquire the classical shape. In 1996, the braid did not make it to the game because only about 540 rendered polygons were used for the model. Her legendary proportions were originally meant to be far more...
Slot machines may not be the most glamorous or high rolling form of casino gaming, but their easy-to-understand format, lively game-play and strong payout odds have always made them among the most popular.

In recent times online casinos have sought to keep them relevant by developing online slots that contain immersive graphics and sound effects, to maintain the interest of younger players. Thus, whether it comes via top notch video graphics, fun themes or higher bonuses, the best of these games offer a lot of fun and this will review the Gonzo’s Quest slot to see if it matches the best.

Gonzo’s Quest is a slot game that can be found at any of the best online casinos such as 888casino and others, suggesting that it has already found a significant audience. It follows the standard online slot format of five reels and 20 pay lines,...
Team MaxConsole Proudly Presents:
A Digital Review of the Analogue Super NT

Released in Japan in November of 1990, the Super NES was arguably one of the best entertainment system consoles ever released. It gave the previously released Sega Genesis a run for its money by outselling it by over 10 million units and delighted its fan base with both a strong first party and third party support.

Today, we are able to re-live the '90s gaming experience via a new retro-style reboot of the classic console as a new offering from a well-known gaming accessory company called Analogue: The Analogue Super NT -- This robust little kit of a console offers native HDMI support and a cartridge slot which is not available in all other SNES clone offerings currently available in crowded retro console market.

Here, in the beginning of this review, I would like to emphasize to the end user...
A long time ago in a console far, far away….
Episode IV
Ezflash Reform

It was almost two decades ago that the Gameboy Advance system was released and people are still playing it. With AGS-101 backlight mods being abundant these days and plenty of flash cart options being available over the years, there is still demand for the most compatible and technologically advanced flash cartridge for the GBA.

We will see how feature packed and capable the latest flash cartridge is for this console: The EzFlash ReForm.

This is the MaxConsole Official Review of the latest Gameboy Advance Flash Cart product from China. We will cover the operation and configuration of this simple to use flash cartridge as well as testing several ROMs, including many that have been problematic to run on other flash cartridges and emulators. This flash cart is based on the Ezflash IV and supports...
Hey everyone! I'm back with my latest product review. Today, I'll be reviewing the Syllable D9X Bluetooth Wireless Earbuds.

So right away, let's jump into a full list of everything that comes with these earbuds. I opened the box up and found the following contents:
  • 1 x SYLLABLE D9X bluetooth headset(two earpieces)
  • 4 x Magnetic battery
  • 1 x Battery case
  • 1 x USB charging cable
  • 6 x Silicone earbud(two on the headset)
  • 6 x Silicone ear clip(two on the headset)
  • 1 x User Manual
  • 1 x Zipper bag

The asking price is a bit steep at $80, and admittedly had I not been given a review copy, I'd be hard pressed to say that I would put that much money down for wireless earbuds. However, these are really good wireless earbuds and they seem to be high quality as well. The only issue I ever had was anyone on the other end of my...
The wait is finally over. The ultimate Nintendo 3DS flash cart is here: the Stargate 3DS.

In this review, the basic operations of this flash cart will be covered as well as testing several DS and 3DS games. This flash cart is plug and play and can switch between DS and 3DS mode on the fly as well as within its DS menu.

After my initial review of the pre-release version earlier this weekend, the StarGate 3DS team has been working with me on some of the issues i found during my initial review and extensive testing, and I have posted an update from them HERE which you can read, and have updated some of my points in my review below.

Please note that this is a pre-release version of the Stargate 3DS Nintendo 3DS flash cart. The final version may differ slightly and have improved compatibility...

Splish! Splash! I was taking a bath -in acid and then I died! True story folks, happened to me more than once. What? You don't believe me? Well, you will. Anyhow, come along with me and check out my review for Splasher on Xbox One.

Splasher is a 2D platformer set in a paint factory inside this crazy cartoon universe. Armed with something called a splatter cannon, players take on the role of our protagonist - a purple haired young man who happens to work in the factory as he sets out to save his fellow Splashers from the evil boss: Le Docteur!

Throughout the campaigns 22 levels, you'll face off against enemies, environmental hazards, and some insane platforming challenges as you try and save your co-workers and collect gold paint. If you're a fan of Super Meat Boy, you're in luck :).

As you progress in the levels, you'll obtain...
Hey everyone, I'm back! This time around I'm bringing you my review of A Hole New World on Xbox One. So jump right in! I mean up, no wait, I meant upside-down as we explore this throwback to the 8-bit days of glory!

The city of Versee is under attack by monsters from the Upside Down world (no, not Stranger Things - sorry folks!) and it's up to you alone, the Potion Master to defeat the evil and restore peace to the world. Fear not though, for Fäy your companion fairy will assist you on your journey to banish this evil from the land.
In A Hole New World, players are shown a brief "cut-scene" describing the current state of affairs and are then immediately thrust into the shoes of the aforementioned Potion Master. As the Potion Master, you are the only one equipped to defeat the evil presence using none other than your potions! From the start, A Whole New World looks, plays,...
Hey everyone! I'm back with my latest review - Prey for XBox One. Hope you like it and thanks for reading!

“Through the looking glass”

In Prey - a first-person shooter developed by Arkane Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks - players find themselves in the shoes of Morgan Yu - a scientist and one of the last sole survivors trapped aboard the Talos 1 space station. As Morgan, you’ll set out to discover your past by unraveling the mysterious clues you’ve left for yourself, stop the devastation caused by the alien presence infesting the space station, and get the hell out of there!

In Prey, you will explore the entirety of Talos 1, inside and out (zero gravity baby!), as you seek to find out what happened to the crew, to you, and also what exactly the alien presence aboard the ship really is. The aliens, know as Typhon come in a variety of forms, the most basic of them being the mimic....
Hey everyone! I'm back with another game review. This time I got my grubby mitts on the gem that is SteamWorld Dig 2, so dig in! - sorry, couldn't help myself :)

SteamWorld Dig 2 opens with the relaxing tunes of an old western, camera fading down a cliff to the campfire site of our mechanical protagonist, Dorothy a.k.a. Dot. A friend to the protagonist from the first SteamWorld Dig, Rusty. You start out with the quest of finding your friend after he mysteriously disappeared following the conclusion of the initial iteration of this series. After you leap off of the cliff camp site to the desert below, the sand caves in beneath you after which you get your first taste of the brilliant gameplay within this little gem.

SteamWorld Dig 2 is a 2d platform action-adventure game reminiscent of the old Castlevania: Symphony of the Night mixed with Metroid and...
Hello everyone! I'm back with another product review. This time, I'll be reviewing a Cinematic Light Box from Amazon seller AGM.

So this product is a little bit different from ones I typically review (games, or game related items), but my wife and I both thought it was such a neat item, we wanted to give it shot, and we're glad we did.
The AGM Cinematic Light Box is an LED light box that you can use to create brightly backlit messages to display at home, work, church, school, wherever you want. Think of a fast food sign, but only one that you can hold in your hands and take on the go. Powered by 6 AA batteries, or the included wall charger the brightness of this little box is actually quite surprising. It comes packaged with a combination of 90 letters, numbers, and symbols for you to...
Hello everyone!

I'm back with another review and this time I got my hands on a Wireless Power Bank with 5000mAH battery from Amazon seller MBuyNow.

Let me start with the design. Smaller than a deck of cards, the MBuyNow Wireless Power Bank can either be used to charge your phone in a flat position, or you can use the built in ridges to prop up the charging pad and stand your phone against the pad either vertically or horizontally. I found it much more convenient in my case to prop the charging pad up and lay my phone against it. That's just a matter of personal preference though. There is supposed to be a magnet in order to grab your phone and hold it against the pad to protect the phone from falling just in case, but I never got it to "grab". This could be the case that was on the phone, or perhaps the magnet isn't strong enough. To be honest, I didn't try after that and didn't care or need to....
Another Great Exclusive Scene Hardware Review by Our Very Own 'ReadTimeSave' Member!

Six years ago, Nintendo released the Nintendo 3DS: their current handheld console with updated copy protection measures built in. We have seen numerous flash cards come out ever since the Gateway 3DS hack which involves a glitch, launching its firmware from System Settings -> Other Settings -> Profile -> Nintendo DS Profile. To counter the 3DS and DS flash cards, Nintendo has regularly released updates to thwart piracy.

The current trend is to install CFW without the need for a flash cart to be inserted and the R4i-B9S flash cart does that and more. You can use it to unbrick 3DS consoles as well as convert the cart to DS mode. In doing so, you can launch DS titles from its MicroSD card slot. This flash cart is advertised to work on all models and all versions of 3DS and 2DS systems.

Let’s take a look at the R4i-B9S...
This is the definition of too close for comfort

We have reported on 'Summer Lesson' a few times since its original launch for the PlayStation VR in Japan, and the latest chapter what is basically an high-tech VR demo by Sony, takes a turn towards the 'creepy horror' side, and it really freaked out one reviewer from PolyGon that had a chance to play it during the recent Tokyo Game Show 2017 that took place last week in Japan.
Albion Online_Logo.png
Our very own Game Reviewer is back with another Exclusive Review, this time covering 'Albion Online', check it out!

Encased within mist and fog, a land is said to hold the greatest of mysteries and treasure, only those adventurers who are noble, valiant, or without a doubt most devious will be able to plunder its fruits and explore its adventures. Enter Albion, a place where a man or woman can create their own legacy, no matter what that be, you are allowed to pursue what you enjoy most. The essential idea of Albion is anything that can be done in the game is done by its players, and every item in the game is player collected and crafted.

Aegis Guild.png

After the initial cutscene cinematic that puts you on Albion’s coastline, the first thing you see is the skill tree. This is because the entirety of the game rests on this back-bone implementation, there are no levels to reach there is...
It's easy to get lost games.

But it's so much easier to get lost in games when they're this big! We've found maps for some of the largest and most popular open world games in the last few years, so you can see how they square up.

We all here on MaxConsole have played at one time an popular open world game on our consoles or PC Gaming rigs, but have you ever thought about the actual map size, and how it compares to other games you might have played or the real world outside in total square miles of amazing gaming universe experience as we run around in our safe virtual world like for example, stealing cars in Grand Theft Auto, or saving the world from nuclear chaos in Far Cry, or rescuing Zelda in the latest blockbuster version in the popular franchise on our Nintendo Switch hybrids.

Our Very Own @JHardin1112 Gives Us Another One Of His Great Reviews For All Of Us To Enjoy!

I have read many headlines and seen many reviews of Perception now, and so many of them seem to label the game as Horror - but I respectfully disagree. In my handful of hours playing as a blind woman determined to exercise her demons and those of a troubled house and it’s past inhabitants, I never once felt fear or associated the experience with horror. Yes, I got creeped out slightly in some situations, and yes, I found myself in the fight or flight response situation (and heads-up, you can’t fight.) But for me, Perception isn’t a game about creating jump scares, and seeking to freak you out. I really don’t think Perception is a game at all - it’s a psychological experience that gives you an opportunity. An opportunity to experience in some small fashion what it is like to be blind,...
Our Very Own MaxConsole Gamer Reviewer is back, with Another One of his Great Exclusive Reviews for You To Enjoy!

Jeremy reviews the N2 Elite Bundle generously provided by the kind folks over at N2EliteUSA.com, which is available right now for only $81.88 and as you can see in the following video review by our @JHardin1112, it works perfectly with all Amiibo's released and of course the Nintendo Switch console.
JHardin1112 our very own MaxConsole Reviewer is back with another one of his great hardware reviews!

Thanks to the fine folks over at Gearbest.com, we here at MaxConsole.com got our hands on the latest H96 HD TV Box - the H96 Max Rockchip. After using the box for the past month, here are my thoughts.

Review Item #1: --> H96 Maxx Rockchip 4K ULTRA HD TV BOX
Review Item #2: --> TZ P9 Wireless 2.4GHz RGB Backlight Mini Keyboard

Just to be clear here, I don’t own a 4K tv, so I was unable to test out the 4K quality offered by the H96 Max, but I was able to check out everything else, and I liked it.

So first things first,...
Video games are good in their original incarnation, but improvements can always be made.
Apart from updating the games with great graphics, remaking also fixes any existing flaws and adds some beneficial content for good measure.

Notable recent video games HD remakes:

1. BIOSHOCK: The collection

The remake of this game is the most awesome way of playing it because you receive 3 games for the cost of one. The games you receive are:
  • Bioshock
  • Bioshock Two
  • Bioshock Infinite
Apart from that, you get DLCs, visual updates, that make older Bioshock run smooth on current systems, and other extras, which are more than enough for the cost.

2. Ratchet and Clank
This is a re-imaging and not a direct HD remastering. The initial game is taken and the exact story is told, but from another perspective – tweaking the events that took place to make the game distinct and...
So E3 2017, or the Electronic Entertainment Expo (to give it its full name), is over for another year, and now the dust has settled.

It was, of course, held only a few weeks ago (June 13-15), and we thought it only fitting to have a little look back and pick out some of our main highlights from the 23rd installment of the event.

So, without further ado, here we go…

First up, one of the biggest reveals at the Los Angeles Convention Center was the launch of Microsoft's Xbox One X, formerly known as Project Scorpio and now billed as the "world’s most powerful console" — apparently 40 percent more powerful than any other.

It is the first 'genuine' 4K game console, and it comes with a built-in Ultra HD Blu-ray drive. We are promised around 40 titles before it arrives, and it will go on sale this autumn priced at...
Our Very Own Game Reviewer 'JHardin112' Is Back With Another One Of His Great Reviews!

This time out he is reviewing the Aaero for Xbox One, which is one of those rhythm-action games that are so popular now.
Aaero is a rhythm-action game by Mad Fellows that combines stunning visuals, intense aerial shooting action, and energetic EDM (Electronic Dance Music) tracks all while enticing you to get the hi-score. Typically games are broken down into levels, but in Aaero the emphasis is on the music and the rhythm, so you aren’t playing levels, but rather, you are actually playing the music tracks themselves. And how good it feels to be in the song.

Aaero 2016-12-31 13-20-38-68.png

Across all 15 of the tracks, players will use the left joystick to navigate their ship around the screen while moving forwards automatically (3rd-person) and attempt to trace a ribbon of light, target and destroy enemies and avoid...
Our MaxConsole Game Reviewer '@JHardin1112' Is Back With Yet Another Amazing Review Of A New Xbox One Game

World to the West is a third person top down perspective puzzle/action game that takes place in a lost ancient world with many different environments.
The game starts with the tesla maker chasing after her father and ends up teleporting to the ancient world. The tesla maker is a female wizard that uses magic as her special abilities. While the other characters; the miner, the aristocrat, and the explorer have their own backstories on how they get to the ancient world. There are many ways to get around by running through the different environments around the ancient world or teleporting to different totem poles found throughout the map. Of course you have to discover the poles first. The totem poles are found throughout the snow biome, grasslands, an area similar to a...
Our MaxConsole Game Reviewer @JHardin1112 Is Proud To Be Covering The Latest Nintendo 3DS Release!

Created by Tanukii Studios, Go! Go! Kokopolo 3D: Space Recipe for Disaster is the long awaited follow-up to the world’s first chase-em-up game Go! Go! Kokopolo, which released back in 2011 for the DSiWare service.
For the uninitiated, the chase-em-up style is where you attack enemies and they chase you down. It’s a sparsely populated genre, but certainly the two titles that I’m aware of in this list are very much worthwhile to play.

SRFD begins with a brief cutscene showing a space bunny crashing into a meteor and dropping pieces of some kind of a stone tablet (or something) down to earth. The 3 pieces land and disrupt the 3 playable characters. They soon gave chase after the bunny and thus the game begins. Each character has their...
Yet Another Great Game Review By Our Very Own @JHardin1112 For You To Enjoy Reading!

You’re falling through your consciousness, screaming at high speeds through familiar memories and events only known to you, pondering why you’re trapped in your own expanse of imagination, until finally you come crashing against the deck of a sky ship adrift amongst a sea of storm clouds on the cusp of destruction….
At first stepping into Soul Axiom, a game that is essentially a 3D puzzler with hints of a platformer, you get the feeling of a great story, one that will shatter the barriers of storytelling that you have developed over time. Unfortunately, this story becomes lackluster due to the game being something of a disappointment.

SoulAxiom_01.jpg SoulAxiom_02.jpg

Soul Axiom starts off as a simple hub-world based puzzle game in which you are gradually given...
Our very own @JHardin1112 is back with another Exclusive MaxConsole Game Review for you all to enjoy reading!

Ah!!! Another year, another entry in Rebellion’s excellent Sniper Elite series!

If you’re looking for a top-notch sniping experience that lets you strategically obliterate Nazi’s in the most graphic and horrific way possible (testicle shot anyone?!), then look no further. Sniper Elite 4 gives you that and more in spades.

Set in 1943, amidst the conflict of WWII, in the beautiful, but warn torn country of Italy, players assume the role of the elite OSS sniper, Karl Fairburne, as he is sent across the country in order track down and ultimately put an end to the Nazi’s use of their secret weapon against the Allies - a radio controlled missile. A quick history lesson for all those (like me) who don’t know what OSS...
The Wintel Pro CX-W8 is another in the long line of inexpensive "TV boxes" available from various re-sellers. What intrigued me about this particular model was the Intel Z8300 Quad-core processor and the fact that it was running Windows 10 instead of Android. And, of course, the price, which is normally around $90 USD. Having the full Windows Kodi experience at that price point would be pretty nice. With the Wintel Pro CX-W8 you can get it, but only if you're willing to put up with some major quirks and limitations.

The first thing you'll notice about the CX-W8 is the no-frills presentation. My review model arrived in a plain brown box that said nothing but "Wintel Box" in the upper right corner. There's a sticker on the back with a list of specs. I'm not sure if this is a true representation of the retail packaging but it made me feel like I'd just ordered some obscure porn magazines from overseas. Not that I've ever done that. I...
