    And most importantly.... the datacenter will have a resident lawyer ready to take care of any intrusions. Alls well that ends well.

    This isn't a new list though, this is identical to what Sony told congress weeks ago.

    so to implement all this security measures all they ever needed was a hacker attack?:confused: those things where supposed to happen when ps3 got released.

    "• appointment of a new Chief Information Security Officer."
    They should have hired a couple of good IT technician instead. Everything they list to do is something that any good *nix administrator could do with free software. (for example Tripwire, Satan, CFengine).

    More importantly Sony needs to change its company culture. The Japanese "save face" culture does not work. IT technicians wanted to update the Apache servers for month at Sony, but Sony needed to "save face". Could not accept a service window/downtime PSN network.

    They also need to work on their public apologies.. after reading about the meeting the executives had it turns out that 7 second bow wasn't even acceptable by Japanese standards. The standard for a corporation is ten to fifteen seconds.

    The measurements are standard procedures at every single company I have worked at. My guess is that all of them where already implemented.
    But if your boss wont give you service window to upgrade/patch servers, what can you do? This is the point that Sony needs to change. Listen to their IT staff instead of the suits who does not understand how things work.

    Why don't they just tell the truth.....

    "in an effort to thwart hackers, Sony has implemented 2 new major editions to its security......Norton AntiVirus and spybot"

    A couple of seppukus would be great PR.

    Or let the Suits work at Fukushima nuclear plant a couple of weeks for redemption.

    Here is the "script" that Sony made with the short time they had to do anything the last weeks.

    @REM Sony's kick azz script
    C:\DOS\Protect port 127.0.0.1
    C:\DOS\relabel port 127.0.0.1 10.0.0.1
    C:\DOS\relabel port 10.0.0.1 192.168.0.1
    @REM Now we are confusing hacker n00bs!
    Del C:\Windows\Localhost
    Del C:\Windows\kernel32.exe /if error > force DELETE
    Add C:\Quake\Bot.exe / protect LAN
    C:\DOS\Coffebreak "Press SPACE" to finish script!
    @REM OMG..L33T.. (C) Sony Security Inc(ompetence).

    What they actually mean is:
    • Installed a Firewall
    • We actually encrypt the data
    • We use password protected user account rather than everyone as root
    • We actually have a firewall now
    • We have a lock on the door in the new place, giant enemy crab wasn't good enough
    • We still haven't decided what he does

    Things to ponder... whats worse? wii announcing a new model coming or psn downtime? ps3 finally outsold the wii. While xbox 360 outsold both and 3ds came in at #1

    His job is encase of being hacked, plant file anonymous before anyone notices. bow 3 times and hide for the next month.
