In 4.4.0 o3ds you have some options.

    1) reinstall the mset.
It needs a NDS Card like the blue GatewayCard, R4,... and to boot up Gatewaymode you need to press Settings -> Other Settings -> Profile -> Nintendo DS Profile

    2) install b9s
Needs some SD-swapping for the installation but then you only have to press a button while booting to enter Gatewaymode.

    3) installing GW-Fastboot (NOT RECOMMENDED, just to tell, thats why not underlined and not descriped)

    4) install a9lh (outdated so NOT RECOMMENDED, just to tell thats why not underlined and not descriped)

b9s is the most common use at the moment and what i use and recommend. It will take its time (downloading and installing takes max 20 min)
With that you can update your SYSNand (at the moment 4.4.0) to the latest firmware and play your original pokémon games etc.
Gateway still needs to be max at 11.2.0 or a frankenfirm(part update to) 11.6.0

So your choice. What do you want to do?

ok then lets start with installing b9s (files and instructions from HERE but I have graped it for you)
Maybe you want to Backup first your SD-Card or use an other one.

    b9s install:
    - Put the files from the zip to the root of your 3ds sd-card.
    - Boot it up and go the same way you are now starting gateway (http://go.gateway-3ds.com/)
    - You will boot into SafeB9SInstaller let it check something and put the right shown keycombination
    - After a reboot (automatic) you will get into Luma-Settings choose only “Show NAND or user string in System Settings” and press Start
    - Power off your 3ds

That was the installation of b9s congrats.
Backup the boot9straps folder here are now some bak files.
If you have used the same SD-Card clean it up or put the original SD-Card back in.

    Cleaning:
remove the SafeB9SInstaller.firm and let the other files be overwritten if you will be asked.

    Prepare Gatway with b9s:
    - Now put the content of 2_keepfiles into your 3ds sd-card that will stay inside of your 3ds.
    (Overwrite if files already exists)
    - Power up your 3ds and maybe you get into Luma-Settings again. choose only “Show NAND or user string in System Settings” and press Start

If your 3ds Starts well you are near done.

    Start Gateway:
    - power off your 3ds
    - put the red card inside of your 3ds slot
    - Hold DOWN on the D-Pad (dont release it) Power on your 3ds and when you see the dragon you can release the D-Pad - or if the normal menu appear. IF no Dragon appear you will not be able to use the Select osd-Menu! Try again and report it to me

    WOW that was a lot.

BUT we have still one more thing.
If you try to boot without an SD-Card you will get in problems because it doesnt start up so

    SD-Less boot:
    - Boot gatway with D-Pad down ^.~
    - install the cia of lumaupdater inside of the cia folder
    - start lumaupdater let him do his jobs and install the stable version
    - it will ask you something with CTR-NAND enable it with the shown key-combo
    - after downloading and installing power it of and pull out the sd-card
    - power your 3ds on and check the "string in system bla" option again on
    - press start
    - menu should appear

Pull the SD-Card back in and we finished the b9s installation with gatway payload.

When you are ready post your success and we will keep on in updating emunand to 11.2.0

For the moment im not at home. Will write it later. For the meantime what Firmeware is your emunand?

If you can't wait get the cia of 11.2.0 from 3dsnus Downloader or your favorited iso side for your old 3ds with the right region.

    That will take a bit.

Okay that's strange. 11.2 is still pretty fine no panic.

    Some questions.
    1. Did you already installed the update?
    2. If you eject the SD and boot the 3ds what firmware is shown in settings?
    3. With SD card inside and powering on the 3ds is sys updater icon shown?
    4. what is your pc saying the SD card is named?
    5. Can you remember to install an emunand on that SD card?
    6. The down pressing while booting still works right?

The black icons are wrong installed programms.
Gateway ignors them - Luma is straight forward and shows you all.

1-no --why not? Till 11.2 Gateway can boot sysnand but doesnt matter now
2-its shows me a blue light for a sec and it doesn't turn on (if i eject the sd i can't turn the 3ds on and see what's the firmware) --That means you havent followed my sdless boot section. No prob we will fix that.
3-no --okay we will fix that later too
4-SDHC --sdhc means you have no emunand ok thats what we have to fix
5-sorry but I don't remember --as 4 shows nothing with gw you prob dont have it
6-its working perfectly --thats really great.

    Questions:
    1. Have you installed some games that are important for you to save the gamestat?
    2. If yes would you prefer to use them with gateway or more with 'normal' boot?

    Todo:
1- Download the 4th zip and put the content on the root of your 3ds sdcard.Overwrite if already exists
    2- CTRNAND Luma3ds
    3- Backup SysNand
    4- Copy&Save SysNandbackup
    5- Backup the hole SD-Card

    2 - CTRNAND Luma3DS
    1. Launch GodMode9 by holding (Start) during boot
    2. If you are prompted to create an essential files backup, press (A) to do so, then press (A) to continue once it has completed
    3. If you are prompted to fix the RTC date&time, press (A) to do so, then set the date and time, then press (A) to continue
      • Note that, if you had to fix the RTC date and time, you will have to fix the time in the System Settings as well after this guide
    4. Press (Home) to bring up the action menu
    5. Select “Scripts…”
    6. Select “setup_ctrnand_luma3ds”
    7. When prompted, press (A) to proceed
    8. Press (A) to unlock SysNAND (lvl1) writing, then input the key combo given
    9. Press (A) to continue
    10. Press (A) to relock write permissions

    3- Creating a NAND Backup + 4- Copy&Save SysNandbackup
    1. Launch GodMode9 by holding (Start) during boot
    2. Press (Home) to bring up the action menu
    3. Select “Scripts…”
    4. Select “Backup SysNAND”
    5. Press (A) to confirm
      • This process will take some time
    6. Press (A) to continue
    7. Hold (R) and press (B) at the same time to eject your SD card
    8. Insert your SD card into your computer
    9. Copy <date>_<serialnumber>_sysnand_###.bin from the /gm9/out/ folder on your SD card to a safe location on your computer
      • Make backups in multiple locations (such as online file storage)
      • This backup will save you from a brick if anything goes wrong in the future
    10. Delete <date>_<serialnumber>_sysnand_###.bin from the /gm9/out/ folder on your SD card after copying it
    5- Backup the hole SD-Card
As your SD-Card is still in your PC copy the hole SD-Card onto a Backup-Folder. During the emunand creation you will loose all the content on the SD-card

When you have finished we will continue with emunand and then you can update this emunand to 11.2.0

Btw How big is your SD-card? hope bigger then 4 GB otherwise I would recommend to maybe switch now to a bigger one because later it is a bit complicated.

    Format the SD with EmuNand

    1. Launch GodMode9 by holding (Start) during boot
    2. Press (Home) to bring up the action menu
    3. Select “More…”
    4. Select “SD format menu”
    5. Select any EmuNAND options you wish to use
      • for Gateway select size full
    6. Select “Auto”
    7. Press (A) to accept the label GM9SD
      • Optionally, you may input a custom name for the SD card
    8. When prompted, input the key combo given to confirm
Now put all Files from your prev created SD Backup back onto the formated SDCard.

    Install FBI and other things

Shutdown the 3ds and Press the L shoulderbutton and start it
    1. Launch the Download Play application
    2. Press (L) + (Down) + (Select) at the same time to open the Rosalina menu
    3. Select “Miscellaneous options”
    4. Select “Switch the hb. title to the current app.”
    5. Press (B) to continue
    6. Press (B) to return to the Rosalina main menu
    7. Press (B) to exit the Rosalina menu
    8. Press (Home), then close Download Play
    9. Launch the Download Play application
    10. Your device should load the Homebrew Launcher
    11. Launch FBI from the list of homebrew
      1. Navigate to SD -> cias
      2. Select “<current directory>”
      3. Select the “Install and delete all CIAs” option, then press (A) to confirm
      4. Press (Home), then close Download Play
    12. Start sysupdater
    13. Smash the A button on the 3ds for update
    14. it will check and install your 11.2.0U version
